8. Assassin's Creed Origins Alexandria

You'll head to Alexandria early on in the story, and the region is fairly small comparatively. There are just three viewpoints, but there's still quite a lot to do regardless of their size.

Quest: A Tithe By Any Other Name

Suggested: Lv10

Hide ads

Reward: 800XP

Once you finish the quest Serapis Unites (see below), the priest in the Temple of Serapis will ask of you another favor. The guards have been taking more food than the tithe requires and as a result have been starving the people of the city. Locate the food cart around the city and sneak up behind it, where you'll first catch up with two men on horseback. You can silently get rid of them with takedowns if you want, isolating the one guy with the hay cart. If you've been stealthy, all you should have to do is hop in the hay and kill him with another takedown.

After you do this, take no time getting in the cart, as enemies seem to endlessly appear to stop you as you take the cart down to where the priest has moved to. But once you get it down to him, just hop out of the cart and talk to him to finish the quest.

Quest: Cat's Cradle

Suggested: Lv32

Reward: 2250XP

The death of a cat, Egypt's sacred animal, has upset some townsfolk. Investigate the area and follow a bloody trail to a rather passionate worshipper of Bastet, the cat god. Escort him towards Bastet's temple, since that's clearly a man of such fervor belongs. You'll have to fight a couple groups of soldiers to get out of the city, but that shouldn't take too long.

Quest: Higher Education

Suggested: Lv21

Reward: 1500XP

It looks like Tefibi is up to no good again (see The Accidental Philosopher). The guards have taken a papyrus very important to his mother in retaliation for Tefibi's consistent stealing habits. Grab a boat by the coast near here and sail out to the boat with the papyrus on it. There are two enemies on this first boat that you're tracking, both of which are around Lv22. If you want to juke this quest (assuming you're around Lv19 or so), you can juke the guys out of their boat by aggravating them and hiding underneath it in the water. They should hop out for a swim; leave them out there for a while and then climb back on the boat so you can pelt them with arrows while they're vulnerable. Confirm the kill on one of the guards, which will give you the papyrus stolen from Tefibi, then come back to his mother to deliver it.

Quest: Phylakes' Prey

Suggested: Lv40

Reward: Legendary Outfit

This quest is started as soon as you kill your first Phylakes, and that'll probably the one walking around Alexandria, since he's at the lower end of the level spectrum. Sneak attacks work wonders on these guys, so make sure you at least make an attempt for a sneak attack if you can before engaging in combat. You can find all of the Phylakes on the map, marked by big red helmets; their level is displayed too, so you can figure out whether or not you'll be able to take one of these monsters on. You may have noticed that this quest doesn't give any XP upon finishing it. This is because that with each Phylakes that you kill, you'll take their most prominent piece of equipment as a souvenir. I'd say it's a fair trade-off, since you'll already need to be at a high level to fight these guys anyway.

After killing all ten targets, talk to Abar in Herakleion Nome, who will refuse to give you her final key unless you prove your worth by killing the crocodiles near the village. After you get the key, get to the chest and claim your prize.

Quest: Phylakitai in the Eye

Suggested: Lv22

Reward: 1500XP, Mount

Phanos has tracked down the Phylakitai that have been giving him and his fellow poets such trouble throughout the city. All three of them will be around the city, so be careful as you track them down. They're pretty tough to fight.

For the Armory, you need to kill absolutely everyone inside. This is a tough task for someone even at Lv20, so you should probably just come back at a later level. The chariot, fortunately, is a much different story. There are only two enemies riding it, and only one of them has to be killed to satisfy the quest. For the group patrolling the canal, try to get them from behind and use a takedown on the one in the back. There won't be any room for the other soldier to move, so you should be able to freely pound on him until he's dead, too. Talk to Phanos once again, and he'll finally be free to spread his wisdom across the city.

Quest: Serapis Unites

Suggested: Lv10

Reward: 800XP

The temple's drummer has been unrightfully jailed, and the priest in charge will ask you for help. The poor drummer is kept up inside Kibotos Arsenal, which is directly north of the temple. Find him and sneak him out of the arsena, then lay him on the ground and talk to him. He'll say that in order to clear his name, the pelt that he was accused of stealing needs to be returned. This pelt can be found near the temple you started at, so once the quest updates you can just fast travel back there.

A bunch of bandits will be holed out in a house with the pelt, so you'll need to beat it out of them. Once you have it, return to the priest to finish the quest.

Quest: Symposiasts

Suggested: Lv21

Reward: 1500XP

Thanks to the success of Phanos's play, the man wants to invite Bayek to a celebration. Follow him a long ways over to the party. Before you can start celebrating, however, a bunch of guards have come in to attack Phanos. This is a pretty hard fight, even at Lv20, so it's worth noting that you can take cover on the roof of the building where the celebration is taking place and fire arrows at the enemies' heads from there. Talk to Phanos once everything has calmed down and the quest will end.

Quest: The Accidental Philosopher

Suggested: Lv20

Reward: 1500XP

You really shouldn't attempt this quest until you're at least Lv19.

A worried mother wants you to find her son, Tefibi. He's trying to become a philosopher, but he hasn't come back from a cave he was looking through for some time now. Run over to the beach to start your investigation, and follow the trail created by Tefibi. There's a lot of blood all over the place; you shouldn't have much trouble finding it. The trail leads to a door on a side of the lighthouse, so brace yourself and bust the door open.

As you lead him home, he and Bayek will talk about the state of the Medjay of the Old Kingdom before the two are attacked by three or four Lv20 Greek soldiers. If you're not up to their level, you'll need to be extremely careful in dealing with them. Tefibi can lose his health, which will only result in him falling to the sand, so don't worry about that when the message pops up. When they're all dealt with, Tefibi will admit to his thieving actions that caused the attack in the first place, and he'll go home on his own, finishing the quest.

Quest: The Last Bodyguard

Suggested: Lv15

Reward: 800XP, Miscellaneous

A man named Phidias wants you to protect some precious cargo of his: his daughter Kara. She won't want to go home, of course, and will have you run a few errands around town first. However, on your way to pick up some linens at the market, someone will steal her horse. Kill the man who took it and bring it back to her to finish the quest.

Quest: The Odyssey

Suggested: Lv10

Reward: 800XP

After a while, the priest of Serapis from a few of the other quests in Alexandria will be in trouble once more. After his little stunt with returning the food back to the people, there's now a bounty on his head, and he needs to leave the city. All you'll have to do is take him to the temple on the northern island, which will take short work with use of your mount.

Quest: The Shifty Scribe

Suggested: Lv11

Reward: 750XP

A troubled woman is concerned about her imprisoned husband, and she will ask of you to free him. Go on over to the general area he's being kept in, locate him, and free him from the cage he's in. Then wipe out the guards that come in to stop you and take him to the docks with your mount. Place him on the boat and talk to him to finish the quest.

Quest: Wrath of the Poets

Suggested: Lv20

Reward: 1500XP

After talking with Aya underneath the Great Library, Phanos will be giving a speech near the northern coast. The guards don't like his new play all too much, and are threatening him with death if he tries to put it on. Bayek will promise to find the actors that work for Phanos as long as he promises to stay low. The actors are coincidentally being held in the same area that you're headed to for one of the new story quests you got recently, the Akra Garrison, so that'll be pretty convenient for you.

After rescuing one of the actors, take him out of the restricted area and set him down so you can talk to him. He'll tell you that there a couple more actors to save, and that the script needs to be recovered as well. Head back into the garrison and look for a very strong soldier with the script, then kill him and take it. If you happen to die trying to get the script, you'll be happy to know that the guard with it will appear outside of the garrison when you're back on your feet. This will make things a lot easier for you.

The first actor you come across will be hiding in his house; that is, until a horde of Lv20 guards swarm the place looking for him. Defeat them all and take the actor to a main street so he can get back to the theater, then meet Phanos back there yourself. It's faster to fast travel closer to his position than to run there. After talking to him, he'll express his gratitude, but he won't be troubled for long. He'll have another quest for you after the end of this one.

Location: Akra Garrison

Location: In the southeastern corner of the city.

Objectives: Kill Captain (x2), Kill Commander, Loot Treasure (x4)

This is a very, very big military base, and it's probably the biggest one that you've seen up to this point in the game unless you went your own way exploring. Track down all the important objectives, tag soldiers, and be sneaky, and you should do okay. If not, don't forget that you can always just run away in a pinch if necessary. If you don't want reinforcements coming in, be sure to sabotage the brazier at the northern entrance.

Location: Armory

Location: Northeast of the fast travel point for the city of Alexandria.

Objectives: Loot Treasure

There are some real high level enemies in this armory, usually around Lv21, so if you want to get to this treasure before hitting that level, you'll want to be very careful about it.

Location: Aya's Home

Location: South of the fast travel point for the city of Alexandria.

Objectives: Loot Treasure

Aya's house is swarming with enemies, waiting for her to come back. If you'd prefer to do as little as possible, climb nearby rooftops and drop down into the walled-off garden, which will let you into the house's interior and grab the treasure.

Location: East Mediterranean Trireme

Location: Sailing around a small island in the seas north of the city of Alexandria. It can also appear in the northern seas of Kanopos Nome.

Objectives: Kill Captain

If you're around Lv9, you might have some trouble with killing the captain here, as the trireme has five men on it. If you have the patience, it's a good idea to wait until you're a higher level, OR you can try setting the ship on fire. It's up to you.

Location: Emporion Berthed Trireme

Location: On the northern coast of Alexandria proper.

Objectives: Loot Treasure

You can get to the treasure in the tent most easily by climbing up the northern side of the ship, but the trireme is so loosely guarded that it might not be worth the effort.

Location: Great Library

Location: A bit northwest of the fast travel point for the city of Alexandria.

Objectives: Find the nearby hidden Papyrus

Take a left after entering the library, and you'll find the scroll on a small table. This puzzle is called Divided Valley.

Location: Great Synagogue

Location: Northeast, on the border between Alexandria and Kanopos Nome.

Objectives: Find the nearby hidden Papyrus

This papyrus is in the garden behind the synagogue, on a small table. The riddle is called Nature's Way.

Location: Iseon

Location: On the large northern island of Alexandria.

Objectives: Find the nearby hidden Papyrus

This scroll is inside the temple of Iseon. The "problem" with finding this one is merely that the entrance to the temple is on the southern side of the building. This puzzle is called Deafening Silence.

Location: Kibotos Arsenal

Location: On the northern coast of Alexandria proper.

Objectives: Kill Captain, Kill Commander, Loot Treasure (x2)

It's a good idea to look for the brazier here and set a trap on it, because there's a soldier right next to it. You'll want to take him out too, of course, but setting that brazier up is pretty important here. There's a good chance that you'll be in combat enough for someone to try to set the fire. One of the treasures is going to be fairly close to one of the leading enemies, and the other treasure is right above the first, so you shouldn't have to do too much exploring.

Location: Mareia Military Storage

Location: Near the coast, within the territory of the farmland.

Objectives: Loot Treasure

This place is pretty small, but you'll have to contend with a few guards to get the treasure. But, if you'd like to, you can try whistling in front of the northern doorway to lure guards out so you can use takedowns on them, one by one, until the rest spot you or the place is cleared out.

Location: Mareia Trireme

Location: Parked at the southern docks of Alexandria.

Objectives: Loot Treasure

This ship is guarded by about five enemies, so if you can handle them, feel free to run in blades blazing. Or, if you wait long enough, the enemies should eventually walk away to give you an opening to grab the loot and leave.

Location: Narrow Crevice

Location: Off the coast, almost at the border of Lake Mareotis.

Objectives: Loot Treasure (x2)

As you would expect, this location is simply a narrow crevice in the lake floor, and you can find two treasures down there at the bottom. Things will go more smoothly if you have the Breath Holding Champion skill, but it isn't necessary.

Location: Pharos Garrison

Location: At the viewpoint to the north.

Objectives: Kill Captain, Kill Commander, Loot Treasure (x2)

If you've already hit the viewpoint up before going for this, then you'll be able to teleport straight to the top and grab the first chest up there. The second one is about halfway up the building. The captain and the commander are at around ground level, so at least you won't have any trouble getting to them.

Location: Pharos Military Storage

Location: At the southern end of the large island to the north.

Objectives: Loot Treasure

As you'd expect with a military outpost, there are a few enemies here protecting the treasure inside. This might not be the case for everyone, but there's a good chance that a guard that parries your attacks will be in here, and he'll be the worst of your worries. Try to sneak around him to attack after he does to score some damage on him.

Location: Royal Palace

Location: On a peninsula to the northeast.

Objectives: Loot Treasure (x3)

The palace is another highly guarded area, swarming with soldiers to fight. Scan the area before heading in, and be sure to figure out where the treasures are so you're not doing anything you don't have to. All three treasures are inside buildings.

Location: Sarapeion

Location: At the southwest viewpoint.

Objectives: Find the nearby hidden Papyrus

This place is very open. You'll be able to find the scroll here really easily. This puzzle is called The Stone Gaze.

Location: South Wall Guard Post

Location: South of Aya's Home, which is in turn south of the fast travel point for the city of Alexandria.

Objectives: Loot Treasure

This should be a simple completion. The treasure is high up on the wall, and there shouldn't be more than five guards up there to sneak past or fight to get to it.

Location: Tomb of Alexander the Great

Location: Northeast of the fast travel point for the city of Alexandria.

Objectives: Find the nearby hidden Papyrus

To find this scroll, walk into the tomb/temple and climb up the pillars to the closed-off place above it. The scroll, called Ray of Hope, will be at the foot of a statue here.
