There are four viewpoints around Lake Mareotis, and there are a few quests, too. Doing most of the stuff here on your first time through towards Alexandria would be a good way to level up in the early game.
Quest: Birthright

There are some dead bodies just lying out in the open in the temple. The woman who brought them in, Iras, is back at her family's farm, which is being searched through by soldiers. Take them all down and find Iras in the well so she can fill you in on what happened. Next, run over to the villa located on the road towards Alexandria for information on the "sale" that took place that led to her family's death.
Upon finding a letter at the villa, you'll find out who's responsible: Sophronios. Find him and kill him in Alexandria to finish the quest.
Quest: The Book of the Dead
Suggested: Lv08
Reward: 600XP
A man named Beka has been mourning over a lost book that has been stolen by bandits. The bandits have camped out at the Necropolis Bandit Hideout of Iment Nome, which is directly south of where you've started this quest. Find the camp and retrieve the book, then return to Beka.
Upon coming to his house, it seems that his daughter will be mourning over her death. It won't be too late for Bayek to bring the book to Beka's dead body. Rush over there before the temple starts working on him to finish the quest.
Quest: Hidden Tax

Reward: 600XP
A woman near the coast will be asking for some help. It seems her husband has travelled across the water to see the ruins, but he hasn't come back yet. Travel to the island to the east, and you'll find Klaudios stranded on a rock in the water, surrounded by crocodiles. He'll be a bit disoriented when you talk to him, but there should be a boat nearby that you can use to take him back to his wife. But it seems that this is not her wife at all, and she was just trying to make a quick buck. Klaudios will be very grateful for your help after you get him out of this sticky situation.
Quest: Lady of Slaughter

Reward: 800XP, Legendary Outfit
There's one more thing Menehet needs help with. The temple is missing one of their key actors in a ceremony that's about to take place, and he can be found in the marketplace. He'll be really drunk, so you'll have to carry him back to the temple yourself. This guy is obviously not ready for a fight of the century, so Bayek will offer to fill his place.
The fight is pretty interesting thanks to the gear you're given. An effect tied to the scepter creates a multiplier that increases your damage and adrenaline with each successful hit. After you win the fight, you'll get to keep the outfit and scepter as a departing thank-you gift.
Quest: Taste of Her Sting

Reward: 3750XP
Upon reaching the Lost Crypt, you'll find a death scene. Look around for several clues as to what occurred here. After looking at the clues, Bayek decides that he can't really make too much out of it, and that he'll keep an eye out for anything else. You can find another clue in the temple at the only viewpoint in Ka-Khem Nome. After you investigate, call on Senu to locate a cave, then head inside to find a few very volatile worshippers of Serket. If you're not at a good level to fight these guys, try leaving the cave and launching arrows into their heads through the crack you came in from. This will skip the rest of the quest, so you won't have to go anywhere else to find this place. Confirm the kill of the cult leader, and you'll finish the quest.
Quest: Ulterior Motive

Reward: 600XP
It seems someone's been selling false religious icons in the marketplace, and who else to put a stop to it other than the Medjay of Siwa? Ask the merchants about the fake goods, and one will promise to meet you at night. Travel to the meeting place and wait until nighttime, where the merchant in question will try to solve the problem his own way. After you defeat his bandit friends, talk to him once again, and he'll tell you the location at which the false relics are being made: a bandit camp in Iment Nome. Travel there, defeat the bandits, and then talk to Menehet to finish the quest.
Location: Abandoned Temple Hideout
Location: Northwest of the highest viewpoint.
Objectives: Kill Captain, Loot Treasure
There are lots of enemies here, and some of them will use smokescreens. Try to finish off most of the guards as stealthily as you can before you might be discovered. To get to the treasure, you'll need to find a small underground room at the northeastern edge of the hideout.
Location: Adexios Naftis Shipwreck
Location: South of the second highest viewpoint and east from the vulture lair.
Objectives: Loot Treasure (x2)
The two treasures here have sunken alongside the ship. They're not hard to find.
Location: Anoia Cave
Location: South of the northernmost viewpoint.
Objectives: Loot Treasure
This cave is really, really small, and the entrance can be found right underneath the location marker. There's nothing special about it save for its size.
Location: Crocodile Lair
Location: Southeast of the Temple of Sekhmet in Yamu.
Objectives: Kill Animal
Unlike most other alpha variants of animals, the alpha crocodile is far bigger and stronger than its relatives. Be very careful when you hunt these beasts.
Location: Dead Men Tell No Tales
Location: Next to the second highest viewpoint.
Objectives: Loot Treasure
There's just a chest under the water by the coast. You might run into a few crocodiles here, though.
Location: Hippopotamus Lair
Location: Directly west of the second highest viewpoint on the map.
Objectives: Kill Animal
Hippos are heavy hitters, and they've got tank-y health too. Going in with only your bare hands is probably a bad idea.
Location: Hypostyle Hall
Location: North of the viewpoint by the coastal city.
Objectives: Locate the nearby hidden Papyrus
The scroll here is a bit high up in the main building of this location. Senu and the Animus Pulse can help you find it.
Location: Lakeside Villa Outpost
Location: South of the highest viewpoint in the region.
Objectives: Kill Captain, Loot Treasure
This place is related to two or so quests, so you might not want to come here until you have to. Lots of enemies patrol this outpost, and only a few of them will be asleep at night, so waiting until then doesn't prove much of an advantage. A good starting move would be to booby trap the brazier to the northeast, and then releasing the lion in the cage on the west side.
Location: Lost Crypt
Location: Southern island of Lake Mareotis.
Objectives: Loot Treasure (x2)
There are two chests here. One of them is in a small room hidden underneath a wooden frame, which is easily destroyed with a couple of arrows. The other is by the coast, near a bunch of crocodiles, so you might want to think of a plan to kill them all before you go for it.
Location: Mareia Anchorage
Location: To the far northeast of the region, in the water.
Objectives: Loot Treasure
This ship has a few enemies on it that will be a bit higher level than you if you're attempting to finish the location off on your first visit to the region. There are two lions that might be able to help you a little bit, but that's about it. If you really want to get the location done early, focus on using stealth attacks from above over and over on the enemies.
Location: North Mareotis Trireme
Location: Sailing around the northern half of Lake Mareotis.
Objectives: Kill Captain
This ship is a bit hard to catch up to, but the soldiers on board shouldn't be too much of a problem if you're at a level around theirs. Sneak attacks from above will help a lot here.
Location: South Mareotis Trireme
Location: Sailing around the southern end of Lake Mareotis.
Objectives: Kill Captain
Take a sailboat to more easily get to the trireme, then use Senu to identify the captain. It's a good idea to climb up the back of the ship and use its high vantage point to get the drop on him. You could also try simply setting the ship on fire and seeing what happens. If you catch fire in the process of doing this, quickly jump in the water to minimize damage to yourself.
Location: Sunken Desmoterion Ship
Location: In the middle of the lake.
Objectives: Loot Treasure (x2)
As with any underwater location, it's a good idea to use Senu to find what you're looking for before diving in. The Animus Pulse helps as well.
Location: Vulture Lair
Location: On the main road from the northernmost viewpoint to the small town by the lakeside.
Objectives: Kill Animal
The only vulture to ever be aggressive to you on site is the alpha, so you can run straight into the lair if you'd like to rush things.
