20. Assassin's Creed Origins Green Mountains

There are four viewpoints in the Green Mountains. They seem to be well-placed, as opposed to some of the other viewpoints in Egypt.

Quest: Carpe Diem

Suggested: Lv35

Hide ads

Reward: 2250XP

A man named Ibi has moved to the Green Mountains from Siwa, who tells him about a Siwan who was captured while fighting the Romans. Rescue her and she'll tell you about a fierce Roman who tortures Egyptians, found in the camp to the north. Kill him to finish the quest.

Quest: Halo of the Huntress

Suggested: Lv34

Reward: 2250XP

Speak with the oracle of the shrine underneath the Green Mountains' highest viewpoint to start this quest. It seems Apollo wants you to get the Halo of the Huntress from a lake by another viewpoint. Use the hidden passageway in the Collis Roman Hunting Camp to get to the halo, finishing this quick quest.

Quest: Here Comes a New Challenger

Suggested: Lv36

Reward: 3000XP, Mystery Item

This quest might not show up until later in the story. An upset man here is talking down upon his employee who was meant to keep watch over his two best gladiators. The bandits that took them are hiding in the hills to the north. Only one will be here, though; talk to him to learn that the other gladiator has faked his abduction. In place of a gladiator is a small girl, all by herself. Speak to her and figure out where Kosey is, then confront him. After you've spoken with him, talk with his ex-manager at the arena in Cyrene to tell him off.

The manager will come up with a deal; if Bayek wins five rounds of the horde mode in the arena, he'll pay him and officially free Kosey. Once you've made it through five rounds, just die to end the run and leave the arena so you can speak to him again. Outside the arena, though, is the manager's servant, who will tell you that he's gone to find Kosey. Kill the manager and his soldiers to ensure Kosey's safety, then take your reward.

Quest: One Bad Apple

Suggested: Lv35

Reward: 3000XP, Legendary Spear

Very late into the game's story, you'll get this quest after rescuing an old woman from a farm. Talk with Praxilla at the healer's place in Balagrae to learn about a strange rumor that the temple won't allow people to see the sick resting inside. Talk with a man named Crios, who will be too unwell to answer you; best to take him to Praxilla. His ramblings mention a Shrine of Whispers, which is coincidentally where Praxilla went to go speak with the temple's main priestess. If you couldn't tell, the priestess is behind all of this craziness. Assassinate her and save Praxilla and the other prisoners, then talk with her outside the shrine to end the quest.

Quest: Playing with Fire

Suggested: Lv33

Reward: 2250XP

Very late into the game's story, you'll get this quest after rescuing an old woman from a farm. Her son Kade was taken away to work on a strong weapon. Fortunately, he's not deep into the fortress, but outside it instead. Free him and his fellow prisoners, then talk to him once you're both far enough from the prison area to learn that he was taken to help with a war weapon developed by Vitruvius.

If you finished his other quest, Vitruvius will tell you that that weapon was a scrapped idea of his. Bayek will take the general using this plan as the main threat, and will insist on killing him as well as bring the weapon plans to Vitruvius so he can destroy them. If you have them, you can kill the general very easily by using a berserk poison on him; the poison will eventually kill him if you wait long enough. Once you take the plans, destroy the oil reserves at the citadel and return the plans to Vitruvius to finish the quest.

Quest: Shadows of Apollo

Suggested: Lv38

Reward: 3000XP

In the Balagrae Roman Barracks, you can find a man named Gupta held in a cell. Free him and run far from the barracks, then talk to him to learn that he's one of Apollodorus' men. One of the soldiers has a list of spies that belongs to Apollodorus, so you'll tell Gupta that you'll retrieve the list to save them from torture and other harm. The list is in Marmarica to the northeast.

When you get to the Hydrax Roman Camp, the soldier with the list will likely set off north to the Livius Roman Tower. He should remain there for quite some time, though, so that's okay. You may as well clear the Hydrax camp and the other locations leading up to the Livius Roman Tower as you meet him there. After taking the list, you'll learn that another spy has been left alive.

Quest: Taking Liberty

Suggested: Lv33

Reward: 2250XP

In the Necropolis Hideout, Bayek will find a letter from a man to his wife. Find him dead in the quarry to the south and take his bracelet to his wife to let her know what happened.

Quest: The Good Roman

Suggested: Lv33

Reward: 3750XP

Vitruvius, the man in charge of construction on the aqueduct, is in need of his tool called the dioptra. After you talk to the last guy who had it, you'll discover that it's been shattered into three pieces. Use Senu to find these pieces and take them all back to Vitruvius to finish the quest.

Quest: Unseeing Eyes

Suggested: Lv35

Reward: 3000XP

A man's eyes have been taken out by what he believes was a manticore, and he lies on the road in wait of assistance. Take him to the clinic in Balagrae and then speak to the healer. He needs three doses of snake venom to treat the man, so head to the next location and get ready to kill some snakes. If you don't want to use ammo, you can toss torches at the snakes to burn them or just bonk them until they die.

The last ingredient the healer needs is a special weed in the barracks. Waiting til nighttime will allow you to get to the plant without having to engage in combat. When you bring this back to the healer, he will thank you for your help and send you on your way.

Location: Akabis Roman Tower

LocationL Southwest of the city of Balagrae.

Objectives: Kill Captain, Loot Treasure

If you sneak around the eastern side of this fort in the daytime, you should be able to knock out a few guys and climb up to the treasure before dealing with the captain. This will also put you in the perfect position to booby trap the brazier, which the captain can light, making killing him that much easier.

Location: Asklepieion

Location: To the east of Balagrae.

Objectives: Find the nearby hidden Papyrus

The scroll is on a table fairly deep into the area, guarded by a relatively high-level enemy. I say relatively because he was a skull for me when I came here first, so it's safe to say that you should not be here at Lv29. This puzzle is called Forsaken City.

Location: Aqueductus Kyrenaike

Location: At the third highest viewpoint of the region.

Objectives: Loot Treasure (x3)

One of the treasures here is right near the top of the viewpoint, which is easy to get to. Another is in a tent on the ground, and the last is guarded by two enemies. This shouldn't be too tough of a location to complete.

Location: Auritina Roman Tower

Location: Southwest of the viewpoint next to Balagrae.

Objectives: Kill Captain, Loot Treasure

Similar to the Akabis Roman Tower, you can climb straight to the top and make your way downwards to make this place a lot easier than it normally would be. The treasure is at the top near the brazier, and the two enemies next to the brazier shouldn't move, so it'll be easy to sneak up on them.

Location: Balagrae Roman Barracks

Location: North of the city of Balagrae.

Objectives: Kill Captain, Loot Treasure

The barracks' structure makes it easy to sneak up on the enemies walking around, but for the treasure you'll want to take the stairs leading underground, which you can find in the main building. By the treasure is a man named Gupta, who is related to the Shadows of Apollo Quest.

Location: Bandit Hideout

Location: South of the city of Balagrae.

Objectives: Kill Captain, Loot Treasure

There's a high ledge overlooking the entire hideout that makes for a fantastic sniping spot. Just make sure you take care of the enemy up there and you'll pretty much have this place in the bag.

Location: Collis Roman Hunting Camp

Location: Next to the second highest viewpoint.

Objectives: Kill Captain, Loot Treasure

This camp has way more enemies in it than it should have. Try to use the caged lions here to your advantage.

Location: Desperate Gully Hideout

Location: Southeast of the second highest viewpoint.

Objectives: Kill Captain, Loot Treasure

Wait until nighttime so that some of the enemies go to sleep, making things easier for you. If you're lucky, the captain will sleep fairly close to where the treasure is.

Location: Forsaken Sanctuary

Location: Northeast of the second highest viewpoint of the region.

Objectives: Loot Treasure

There shouldn't be anything here, save for the treasure, but watch out for snakes sitting right next to it. To kill snakes easily, you can throw torches at them until they catch fire.

Location: Kastor High Hideout

Location: Southeast of the second highest viewpoint and Desperate Gully Hideout.

Objectives: Kill Captain, Loot Treasure

There aren't many enemies here, but there are a handful of caged lions. Break them out if you want to distract the enemies, but if not, waiting til nighttime works too. Some of the enemies should be asleep in a cave.

Location: Kyrenaika Roman Citadel

Location: East of the third highest viewpoint.

Objectives: Kill Captain (x2), Kill Commander, Loot Treasure (x4)

With such a massive fortress as this one, you need to try and scan the area as much as possible before entering. Try to wipe out entire portions of the citadel before moving on to the next.

Location: Lake of the Clouds Ruins

Location: North of the second highest viewpoint.

Objectives: Loot Treasure

There are lots of lions sitting around here. If you don't want to fight them, ride a horse right next to the treasure, loot it, and then ride away.

Location: Leopard Lair

Location: Southwest of the second highest viewpoint.

Objectives: Kill Animal

Since there are so many leopards here, you might want to try killing the beta leopards before taking on the alpha. Sleep darts work pretty well too.

Location: Lumber Depots

Location: North of the region's central lake.

Objectives: Loot Treasure

In daytime, there are two guards protecting this treasure by standing to the left and right of it. The problem they're overlooking is that nobody is actually looking directly at the chest. I managed to loot it by hopping over the wood next to the treasure and simply picking it up from there, then leaving before anyone suspected anything.

Location: Necropolis Hideout

Location: At the western end of the aqueduct.

Objectives: Kill Captain, Kill Commander, Loot Treasure (x2)

This is a very large cave system and courtyard filled with bandits. It'd be wise to be as stealthy as possible while attacking the enemies, and it might be a good idea to wait until nighttime so you can sneak up on sleeping foes. One of the treasures is in a room hidden by a vase.

Location: Oracle of Apollo

Location: By the highest viewpoint of the region.

Objectives: Find the nearby hidden Papyrus

The scroll is inside the temple. It should be pretty easy to find.

Location: Poimen Relay

Location: Northwest of the city of Balagrae.

Objectives: Loot Treasure

There are only two enemies by this treasure. They shouldn't pose any problems.

Location: Poludeukes Hideout

Location: East of the second highest viewpoint.

Objectives: Kill Captain, Loot Treasure

A small hideout. You'd have a good advantage over the enemies here if you decide to shoot at them from above.

Location: Prasinos Outpost

Location: Southeast of the highest viewpoint.

Objectives: Kill Captain, Kill Commander, Loot Treasure (x2)

A fairly large outpost. I had an unusually easy time getting the objectives done, so you should too.

Location: Refugee Haven

Location: West of the Auritina Roman Tower.

Objectives: Loot Treasure

This place should be easy to complete. I was able to do a takedown on a soldier right next to the treasure, which naturally made getting to it a lot faster.

Location: Roman Camp of Surus

Location: Southwest of the viewpoint in the middle of the region.

Objectives: Kill Elephant

This is a real tough fight. Surus has a bowman positioned atop him, who will always fire arrows at you. He drops arrows occasionally, which is how you'll be restocking your bow. The fight is, I assume, meant to be fought by shooting at Surus's unarmored body parts until he eventually dies. When the elephant is at three squares of health, fire bombs will rain from above, agitating him even further and making him more chaotic. I cannot recommend a light bow enough for this part of the fight, since light arrows should do just barely less damage than a hunter bow would.

Location: Roman Quarry Camp

Location: Next to the Roman Camp of Surus.

Objectives: Kill Captain, Loot Treasure

This camp is really large, and is filled with enemies on several levels. If you want to remain in stealth, you should consider going around the back side and working your way down towards the bottom.

Location: Roman Watchtower

Location: At the top of a mountain directly south of the viewpoint in the middle of the region.

Objectives: Kill Captain, Loot Treasure

You should be able to sneak up on the captain here fairly easily. If not, you can try waiting until nighttime to check if things are more in your favor.

Location: Shrine to Hygieia

Location: North of the Balagrae Roman Barracks

Objectives: Loot Treasure

The treasure here is at the base of the shrine, but watch out for the many snakes protecting it.

Location: Theras Ampelos

Location: West of the city of Balagrae.

Objectives: Loot Treasure

The treasure here is in a cave, and is guarded by a few enemies. You probably won't be able to get to it if you're underleveled.

Location: Vulture Lair

Location: South of the second highest viewpoint.

Objectives: Kill Animal

A standard animal lair. With vultures being the easiest thing to hunt aside from snakes, this lair shouldn't be much of a challenge.
