Get Intel on Operation Husky in Call of Duty: WWII

By Rebecca Smith,
In just a few days, the second DLC expansion for Call of Duty: WWII will be arriving on PlayStation 4. Steam players will have to wait a bit longer for the release of "The War Machine", but that doesn't mean we can't look at all of the trailers and details in the meantime. The game's latest trailer shows all of the DLC content, while we also have further details on the upcoming War Mode mission.

"The War Machine" includes three multiplayer maps, a new War Mode mission and an expansion to the Nazi Zombies storyline. You can see all of this content in action below.

The War Mode mission takes inspiration from the real-life Operation Husky, where the Allies invaded Sicily in July 1943. During the in-game mission, Allied players begin in the town of Ragusa, Sicily. Their aim is to retrieve intelligence so that the bombing of enemy forces can begin. As an Axis soldier, opposing players need to stop that from happening. There are three stages to the mission.

Operation Husky

Stage 1 tasks players with finding three pieces of intel. All three are located in an Axis-controlled building, two on the upper floors and one in the garage below. Allies will have the use of molotov cocktails to help them, while Axis players will have tripwires and buildable walls to block off select entrances. All intel must be returned to the church set up as field HQ, located just across the street from the enemy buildings.

Once the intel has been secured, Stage 2 tasks players with taking control of a nearby Axis-controlled radio station so that the information can be relayed back to Headquarters. The radio station is a multi-level building with a fortified machine gun nest and two buildable walls. Not only must they gain control, the Allies must keep control for long enough so that the broadcast can be completed.

Upon completion of that broadcast, Stage 3 is where the game introduces its dogfights. Players then take control of fighter planes above Sicily. The incoming bombers must be defended while they reach the target area if the Allies are to be successful, whereas Axis soldiers must take down the bombing run before it's too late.

The War Machine

"The War Machine" and its dogfights will arrive first on PlayStation 4 on April 10th. Steam players can expect to receive the DLC four weeks later.
