Solutions, kinda. More like tipps on how to drive this scenario.
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***Getting it is rather easy and rather hard at the same time.
You just have to string a near perfect run together, which means no wheelslip when setting off, pump the regulator.
Two 1 second wheelslips will cost you 40 points, so don't be too overeager when setting off, but also don't be to slow! ;)
Dampers wide open, blower off, set the brake to running while underway.
Keep a good fire going, around the high 800's to low 900's in lbs. (F5 Hud)
Like Water, often and little!
Also keep in mind that when checking the smoke for a good fire the sun is to the right most of the time, making the smoke appear darker than it is.
Remember fire, close the firehole door, wait until the smoke is white, fire again.
Drive fast and I mean seriously fast!
To make this scenario you should be in the around the high 80's to low 90's for the most part I was running 89-92 mph.
It's very hard to make the first two stops without loosing points, just try to keep the loss to a minimum at those and carry on.
You don't need to be 100% on time, on the timed go via instructions, generally if you get there inside 30 seconds from the time you will get away without points being deducted.
The Hardest bit is the approach to Kings Cross, because you need to be as late on the brakes as you dare to make the timing, without locking up the brakes or speeding, speeding will hurt you. Also the Vacuum brakes aren't exactly the strongest, something you will feel in the Gasworks tunnel when you have to brake down to 15 mph. This is more or less a continous braking zone that starts at the sixty, if you brake just to get the 45 you will not be able to slow down enough to get the 15.
Use below 10 psi brake line pressure and if necessary sand in the Tunnel to get the speed down.
Yeah, yeah Sand evil in modern days, but in the old steam days they used it whenever necessary, and that's how I drive kettles, by the old ways.
