Virginia is the 3-legged and 3-armed woman wearing a swimsuit who occasionally approaches the player while outside of caves and bunkers. She goes through a beginning cycle where she'll approach you, freak out, then run away, only to get closer the next time she interacts with you. During this period you should just stand still and let her approach until she runs off. You probably can move around, just don't attack her as if you do kill her, I don't believe she will re-appear for that playthrough (which means you should also protect her from cannibals and mutants.) She'll eventually warm up to you and bring you a gift which is normally a plant like aloe vera, some berries, a stick, a fish, or even occasionally an animal to skin. At this point, I'd recommend you stick a tracker on her so you can see her like you can Kelvin (You can also equip her with clothing like the dress or military garb as well as with guns, where she can wield both a pistol and shotgun at the same time, making her survival easier to manage as she'll fight back.) Virginia will stick around you or your base and wander around, sometimes bringing back more gifts. To progress your relationship to the max from this point, it's a lot of waiting and getting thumbs up from Virginia which happens occasionally when she runs up to you or when you are in her line of sight.
