The Forgotten City

Hello, this is Apostle92627, your tour guide, taking you to ancient Rome. Except all is not well, it seems. The citizens are trapped by one law: The Golden Rule. Break it, and everyone dies. Commit murder, and everyone dies. Commit theft, and everyone dies. Commit... Well, you get the idea.

Only you, the adventurer, can save everybody. It seems that this particular Roman city is in a time loop. If you break "The Golden Rule," the Golden statues you see scattered throughout the city come to life, ready to turn you -- and others around you -- into gold. In order to save everyone, you have to run back to the spawning area and go through the portal whenever the rule gets broken.

In this world, if you allow day to become night, eventually, the screen will turn black & white, and you'll have to return to the Shrine of Proserpina and start another Time Loop.

Furthermore, there is whispering throughout the game, so bring headphones on this journey.

This walkthrough uses cheats to get the first three ending achievements (and even partially get the fourth) in order to get them quickly. You have an unlimited number of tries to get the rest of them. You can even unlock any achievement in any order at any time, including ending achievements. In fact, I put endings 2 and 3 towards the end of this walkthrough because it makes the most sense. The two cheats we will be using are:

  1. cn_LTcn_RTcn_LBcn_RBcn_LTcn_RTcn_LBcn_RBcn_Acn_A: God Mode
  2. cn_LTcn_LTcn_LTcn_RTcn_RTcn_RTcn_RBcn_LBcn_Acn_A: No-Clip

You can also use the following console commands (~ key):

Hide ads
  1. ghost/noclip: Fly/Pass through objects (NOTE: This has to be re-enabled every loop.)
  2. set game speed # (NOTE: This impacts both movement speed AND the in game world.)
    1. 1: Default
    2. 0.5: Slow Motion
    3. 9: Very Fast (NOTE: Do NOT use if you want Minimalist unless you're very good at controlling you character.)
  3. god: God Mode (NOTE: This has to be re-enabled every loop.)
  4. The following are give commands:
  5. give flashlight: Flashlight
  6. give bow: Regular Bow
  7. give bow_gold: Golden Bow
  8. For the following, simply replace "#" with how many you want.
    1. give bow_arrow #: Gives you arrows for your bow.
    2. give ammo #: Gives you bullets for your gun.
    3. give coin #: Gives you Denarii (coins).

NOTES:

  1. You know the codes worked when you see the icons in the top right corner of the screen. They disappear when you disable them.
  2. I can personally confirm neither the use of push button codes nor console commands has any effect on achievements whatsoever.
  3. God Mode does not carry over between Time Loops, even though the icon is still active (NOTE: This is only if you used the push button code on a controller.). If you have to load for any reason, you have to re-enable God Mode. If you have to go through a Loop, you have to disable it, then re-enable it.
  4. In order to interact, you have to disable No-Clip.
  5. Push button codes are easy to use, even if you take a second between button presses.
  6. There is no give gun console command, so keep that in mind when creating your character.

You can pick one of four types of characters you want to be:

  1. Archaeologist: Years of history give you occasional insights into the ancient world.
  2. Soldier: You have a military-issued firearm, but only 10 bullets. But you'll have to use them judiciously since there's no way to get more.
  3. Fugitive: Your time on the run from authorities has made you quick on your feet, and you're 25% faster while sprinting.
  4. Amnesiac: Your recent head trauma increased your pain threshold, making you 50% harder to take down.

Archaeologist makes it easier to talk to people and study the city, Soldier makes it easier to get the endings (and is required for at least one of them AFAIK), Fugitive makes it easier to escape the Golden Statues, and Amnesiac is essentially useless, especially if you use God Mode.

Here are the Xbox controls:

  1. cn_LS: Move your character
  2. cn_RS: Move the camera
  3. cn_start: Pause
  4. cn_Y/Tab: Journal
  5. cn_X: Track Main Goal/Lead
  6. cn_A: Interact/Talk
  7. cn_B: Cancel/Exit/Skips dialogue/jump
  8. cn_right: Cycle weapon/flashlight right
  9. cn_left: Cycle weapon/flashlight left
  10. cn_up: Enter photo/screenshot mode
    1. cn_right: Cycle screen filter right
    2. cn_left: Cycle screen filter left
  11. cn_down: Change screen filter
  12. cn_LT: Sprint
  13. Tap cn_RT: Fire gun while equipped
  14. Hold cn_RT and release: Fire bow while equipped
  15. cn_LB: Zoom/Aim

Here are the Keyboard and Mouse controls:

  1. Keyboard controls:
    1. W: Move Forward
    2. S: Move Backwards
    3. A: Move Left
    4. D: Move Right
  2. Shift: Sprint
  3. Jump: Spacebar
  4. C/Ctrl: Crouch
  5. E: Use/Interact
  6. M/X: Objective Guide
  7. Right Mouse Button: Zoom/Aim
  8. Left Mouse Button: Weapon Primary
  9. Mouse Wheel: Weapon Secondary
  10. Move Mouse: Camera
  11. Tab: Journal and Inventory
  12. P: Photo Mode

NOTE: I play with an Xbox controller.

Furthermore, time only pauses when you're paused or looking at the journal. It doesn't pause during a conversation, and there's no way to actually pause during one either, so be careful if you feel like you have to take your time. However, I never had a problem with it while going through the dungeons.

Finally, no two playthroughs are the same. Just because I get dialogue options you don't doesn't mean either of us were wrong. It simply means we did or said something slightly different, and a result, got different dialogue choices.

Prologue

The adventure begins with you talking to a stranger. Select your gender and name. Whenever your character says his or her name, I will replace it with "...," in the walkthrough. You can use whichever dialogue options you prefer. However, I will show what I've chosen. Save your choices and continue. Here's what I chose for the opening conversation of the game:

  • "I was on a covert mission..." (Soldier)
    • "Mind if I ask some questions first?"
    • "What's your story?" (You'll be asking this of everyone.)
    • "You're not even going to tell me your name?"
    • "I'd really like to know, especially if I'm going to be helping you."
    • "Well, thank you for saving my life, Karen."
  • "Who is Al?"
  • "Where are we?"
  • "What can you tell me about the ruins?"
  • "Have you tried calling for help?"
  • "That's all the questions I had."
  • "Alright, I'm in."

I picked the soldier so I could have the gun, which is required for an ending achievement and a missable achievement. (NOTE: There is no give gun console command. I know because I tried.) Not only that, but it can also get you out of a jam. However, use the gun sparingly. Unless you decide to use console commands, you're only given 10 bullets with no way of replenishing them. Use them wisely.

Immediately press cn_up (P on keyboard) to unlock:

New Main Goal:

Quid Pro Quo

Enter the ruins

Walk forward a few feet to the quest marker.

Updated Main Goal:

Quid Pro Quo

Search for clues about Al's whereabouts

Next, press cn_right or cn_left to equip the gun/flashlight so you can see in the dark and follow the path to the door. NOTE: If you sprint, your adventurer will point the gun in the air, so the light won't be visible. Press cn_A to read the note, which opens the door.

Updated Main Goal:

Quid Pro Quo

Find the entrance to the secret city

Step on the circular platform to fall into the pit, then take a couple of steps forward.

Updated Main Goal:

Quid Pro Quo

Follow Al's trail

Follow along the path, listening to the narration, across the bridge, until you reach the Hanging Golden Statue. You can inspect some statues if you want, but none of them are needed for achievements so they won't be discussed in this walkthrough.

Updated Main Goal:

Quid Pro Quo

Read the stone tablet

Directly below the Hanging Golden Statue is the Inscribed Stone Tablet. Press cn_A to read it. This will complete Quid Pro Quo. Continue forward until the camera angle changes automatically.

New Main Goal:

Forget-Me-Not

Find the doorway into the past

Continue following the path up the first six flights of stairs until you reach a fork, then take the right path down the stairs and a few more feet.

Updated Main Goal:

Forget-Me-Not

Step through the doorway into the past

Take your only left and step through the portal. This completes Forget-Me-Not.

This is where you will play the rest of the game. All of the endings are easy if you cheat, so save your game here. In fact, save your game often (and use multiple saves just in case). You never know when you're going to screw up. Or even when the game might glitch. In fact, I've been hit with never-ending load screens multiple times already, and I'm just getting started. If this happens to you, press Alt+Tab, then right-click the game on the task bar and select close all windows, then reload the game. One ending may be missable if you run out of bullets. I tried to shoot Sentius with the Golden Bow (gild) multiple times, but it didn't work once. Gilding other citizens does, however.

The first two pages discusses how to use cheats to get the first three endings and partially get the fourth. If you would rather get them legit, you can skip the rest of this page and also the next one.

Ending 1/4

New Main Goal:

Point of Origin

Figure out how to return to your original time

First, let's use God Mode in case we accidentally get hit with arrows (you should be fine):

Xbox One/360 Controller: cn_LTcn_RTcn_LBcn_RBcn_LTcn_RTcn_LBcn_RBcn_Acn_A
Console Command (~): god

Walk up to Galerius. Lie if you want, but for the first few playthroughs, it doesn't matter. Go with the following dialogue options:

  • "'...I got lost.' (Lie)"
  • "Your laws?"
  • "No thanks, I'll make my own way."
  • "Don't worry about me. I know what I'm doing."

You should unlock:

New Main Goal:

The Golden Rule

Learn about the Golden Rule

Visit Magistrate Sentius in the Villa

Don't worry about these objectives unless you're playing legit.

As Galerius is walking off, press cn_right, aim, and hit cn_RT to shoot him in the back. Oops... We just broke the Golden Rule! What EVER shall we DO?!

New Main Goal:

Run!

Follow Sentius back to his shrine and use his portal again

Don't worry about this objective either, or else you miss out on an achievement.

Stay where you are and wait for the Magistrate to come to you. The Golden Statues will attack, but the quest marker (the Magistrate) will quickly rush to us. Shoot him in the head when he gets close. Next, enter the portal we just came through. You should unlock:

Updated Main Goal:

Point of Origin

Talk to Al

Walk forward and Al will talk to you. I used these dialogue options:

  • "Al Worth? I came in here to find you."
  • "...I was hoping you'd know who I am..."
  • "'Weird. That definitely wasn't me.' (Lie)"
  • "When I first arrived here in the present day, I found your corpse hanging from a noose."
  • "I still have the suicide note you carved into this tablet. Here."
  • "It was written by a different version of you. I changed your past, and your fate."
  • "I killed the man who opened a time portal and drew you back in time, preventing it from ever happening."
  • "Now you're getting it."
  • "I regret nothing."

You should unlock:

Press Continue.

Ending 2/4

For this and the next ending, we will use No-Clip.

New Main Goal:

Point of Origin

Figure out how to return to your original time

You can use No-Clip or Ghost to skip talking to Galerius completely. Here's the code:

Xbox One/360 (No-Clip): cn_LTcn_LTcn_LTcn_RTcn_RTcn_RTcn_RBcn_LBcn_Acn_A
Console Command (~): noclip (ghost also works)

You can then fly past the second bridge and turn off No-Clip to land. However, Horatius will stop you, even if you're using No-Clip directly above him. You can get around this by flying closer to the Forum, then veering right.

Once you're passed Horatius, repeat the cheat to turn off No-Clip/Ghost. Left of the guard doing pushups are stairs leading up to a locked door (Malleolus's villa). Left of those are stairs leading down to a door (lower cistern). Try to enter the lower cistern. A guard will stop you. Here's what I chose to say:

  • "Yes, why?"
  • "What did you do?"
  • "That was a great story, but I'm still going down there."

Walk through both doors and use No-Clip.

You can make a beeline to the spot, but I like to play it safe since I know where I'm going. Go down the stairs into the lower cistern, then straight up the next flight of stairs. Go left and up the vine using your No-Clip. Make sure you're above the ground, then disable No-Clip. You could unlock:

However, I'm not 100% sure it unlocks without using the Golden Bow. I already had the achievement when I started writing this walkthrough, and I'll go into detail on how to unlock it later.

Now, talk to the Captive. Here's what I chose:

  • "...nobody sent me."
  • "What is going on here?"
  • "Who did this to you?"
  • "How hasn't this broken The Golden Rule?"
  • "Where is the way out?"
  • "What will you do if I release you?"
  • "What about the others?"
  • "What if I round everyone up so they're ready to escape, once The Golden Rule is broken?"
  • "I'm sorry, but if I let you go, everyone else is going to die."
  • "Not heartless. Just rational. Our escape isn't worth the lives of everyone here."

Make a new save. This sets up a partial playthrough for the third ending.

Talk to Sentilla again, this time choosing:

  • "I'm letting you go. Let's get out of here together."

Her captor shows up. This is what I went with:

*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Press cn_RT to pull the trigger. You should unlock:

  • Dead Shot

Free the captive and shoot her captor with your gun

    Dead Shot
Offline Mode - These achievements require play in game modes that do not necessitate a connection to any online services.Single Player - These achievements can be obtained by a single player.Missable - These achievements can be missed.

Updated Main Goal:

Point of Origin

Talk to Al

Al automatically talks to you.

  • "Al Worth? I came in here to find you."
  • "...I was hoping you'd know who I am..."
  • "Actually, that was me."
  • "When I first arrived here in the present day, I found your corpse hanging from a noose."
  • "I still have the suicide note you carved into this tablet. Here."
  • "It was written by a different version of you. I changed your past, and your fate."
  • "I helped Sentilla kill the man who opened a time portal and drew you back in time, preventing it from ever happening."
  • "Now you're getting it."
  • "Enough talk. How about we get out of this place?"
  • "It's right here in the cistern. Follow me."

Updated Main Goal:

Point of Origin

Exit through the aqueduct

Go left, up the stairs, until the screen changes, and you're outside.

Updated Main Goal:

Point of Origin

Return to the river

Follow the path until Al stops you. I selected:

  • "Good idea."

Continue along the riverbed until Karen stops you. This completes Point of Origin.

  • "I found him. He'll be here in a moment."
  • "I discovered the ruins of an ancient underground city."

NOTE: We didn't play through the entire story. There will be more later as we progress through the game. I put the legit version of these two endings towards the end of the walkthrough for that reason.

Either listen to Sentilla's message or take Sentilla's stone tablet by pressing cn_A.

  • "I'm ready. Take us home."

You should unlock:

Press Continue. The Cheat versions of Ending 3 and the partial 4th Ending are next. The story walkthrough is coming up.

Ending 3/4

Use No-Clip/Ghost and leave the upper cistern. We have to break the Golden Rule, so we might as well get a couple of achievements out of the way in the process. Disable No-Clip/Ghost just before the initial door, making sure it's safe to do so. Return to the Slums and talk to Aurelia, who is behind the counter in the tavern. Select:

  • "And you're as charming as you are beautiful."
  • "What?! You came onto me!"

You'll unlock:

Hide ads

NOTE: It doesn't matter which gender you chose at the beginning of the game. She flirts with you either way.

  • "I'll be going now."

Look left to see a flight of wooden stairs. Go up the stairs now. You should use God Mode here if you're worried about the Golden Statues. Reminder of the code in case you forgot:

Xbox One/360 Controller: cn_LTcn_RTcn_LBcn_RBcn_LTcn_RTcn_LBcn_RBcn_Acn_A
Console Command (~): god

Round the corner, go through the curtain, and look left to find a desk. On the left side of the desk is a key to Aurelia's chest. Press cn_A to examine it and again to steal it, breaking the Golden Rule.

New Main Goal:

Run!

Follow Sentius back to his shrine and use his portal again

But we're not done with our crimes in this spot. If you look right, you'll find Aurelia's chest; Press cn_A to unlock it, again to search it (the camera may move), and a third time to steal her money, unlocking:

Now, run back to the shrine and step through the portal. This should unlock:

After taking a few steps, you complete Run!. Talk to Galerius again. Use this option:

  • "The Golden Rule is going to be broken soon. I need you to quietly get everyone except Sentius ready to run into the upper cistern when the ground starts to rumble."

Run back to the lower cistern. Horatius could stop you if you're not careful. The guard (Domitus) from the previous loop will stop you just before you enter the lower cistern, however.

  • "I know about your 'creature'. Don't worry about me."

Use No-Clip after going through the doors and return to Sentilla, and talk to her.

  • "...nobody sent me."
  • "I know. We've had this conversation before."
  • "I've told Galerius to lead everyone here when the Golden Rule is broken, so they can escape too."

Sentius shows up here.

  • "You're human garbage, you know that?"
  • "Wait, what?!"
  • "You're going to die a painful death for this."
  • "I may not be armed, but I'm pretty sure she is."

Updated Main Goal:

Point of Origin

Talk to Al

Al automatically talks to you.

  • "Al Worth? I came in here to find you."
  • "...I was hoping you'd know who I am..."
  • "Actually, that was me."

  • "I still have the suicide note you carved into this tablet. Here."
  • "It was written by a different version of you. I changed your past, and your fate."
  • "I helped Sentilla kill the man who opened a time portal and drew you back in time, preventing it from ever happening."

Exit through the aqueduct

Go left, up the stairs, until the screen changes, and you're outside.

Updated Main Goal:

Return to the river

Follow the path until Al stops you.

  • "Alright."

You should unlock:

Credit for the idea to use No-Clip Mode to get this achievement: xDisturbedx666

Reload your first manual save.

Partial 4th playthrough

New Main Goal:

Point of Origin

Figure out how to return to your original time

Talk to Galerius.

  • "...I've just come from the future."
  • "Seriously, what's the date?"
  • "What year?"
  • "That doesn't help me. Is this before or after Christ?"
  • "Your laws?"
  • "No thanks, I'll make my own way."
  • "Don't worry about me. I know what I'm doing."

New Main Goal:

The Golden Rule

Learn about the Golden Rule

Visit Magistrate Sentius in the Villa

Again, don't worry about these objectives unless you're playing legit.

Head left, down the stairs. Feel free to hold cn_LT to run. You'll eventually pass the slums where you can pick up a couple of achievements if you haven't already. Run through the cave, taking the right fork next to the stairs on the left. Go straight, then take the left fork up the hill next to the bridge we crossed to get the second and third endings.

Head straight up the stairs to the Palace (we'll go through it later), and at the top, go right across the bridge. You run into a woman (Octavia) scrubbing the ground.

  • "I'm fine, thanks."
  • "I'll be going now."

We'll learn more about her later.

*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

  • "Good luck with that. I'm out of here."
  • "Yes. I can't help him."
  • "What happens now?"

New Lead:

A Permanent Solution

Figure out how to stop Ulpius from killing himself

Again, we'll deal more with this later, so don't worry about the objective. Save, and follow him off the ledge into the pool. You should unlock:

Reload and use No-Clip/Ghost now. Walk through the door and disable it. Speak to each Great Temple Door and answer in the following order:

  1. "Pluto, Father of Riches, grant me an audience."
  2. "Hades, Lord of Many, grant me an audience."
  3. "Osiris, Lord of Silence, grant me an audience."
  4. "Nergal, The Fierce One, grant me an audience."

Using God Mode may be a good idea since we're about to flee from Golden Statues that want to kill you. Walk forward until you see the God of the Underworld and draw your gun. Aim to the right and shoot the glass case.

New Main Goal:

Run!

Follow Sentius back to his shrine and use his portal again

Run up to where you shot the glass case, press cn_B to jump onto the platform it was standing on, and grab Proserpina's Crown at your feet. Now, in the immortal words of Al "The Shoeman" Bundy, "Run. Run hard, run now, run silent, run deep; Run like Mexican water through a first-time tourist, but the key word here is: Run." In other words, run for your life! Head back down the long hallway. No need to worry about re-activating No-Clip since the doors leading outside open for you. Now, go back to the shrine and step through the portal.

After taking a few steps, you complete Run!. Talk to Galerius.

  • "...we've had this conversation before."

Press cn_A to take the Zip Line Handle Bar.

  • "No problem. I have to go."
  • "Thanks. I'll be going now."

You're really getting to know him. Now you can even use zip lines!

Walk to the rock on the left and press cn_A to use the zip line. Return to the temple you stole Proserpina's Crown from.

NOTE: If you take a left immediately when the stairs leading up to the entrance start, you can avoid talking to Octavia and Ulpius altogether.

Use No-Clip/Ghost to get inside, then disable it so you can speak to the doors. The correct dialogue options show up as gray. Run forward all the way and you'll get locked into a conversation with the God of the Underworld. You should unlock:

  • "Let's get it over with."

Now, you can load your original manual save and go after the remaining achievements, or talk to everybody and pick up the Ending 4 achievement. Your call, but I prefer getting the best possible outcome, so I'm holding off until I get the rest of the achievements.

NOTE: To get the Canon Ending achievement, you just need to talk to Al at the end of the hallway. More on that at the end of this walkthrough.

  • "'... I got lost.' (Lie)" (1/10)
  • "Your laws?"
  • "No thanks, I'll make my own way."
  • "Don't worry about me. I know what I'm doing."

NOTE: Taking the tour reveals some of the story, but you don't get an achievement. However, if you decided not to take the tour and you're playing legit, you'll unlock:

You'll be getting to know Galerius quite a bit as you progress throughout the story, since he stops you at the beginning of every loop.

New Main Goal:

The Golden Rule

Learn about the Golden Rule
Visit Magistrate Sentius in the Villa

Go left, down the stairs through the cave (On the first left is the Slums. On the second is a tunnel that leads to a door that's blocked by a statue. Behind the door is a chest with 4,000 denarii. (Because we can't get to the chest at the moment, we'll go to both places in a bit). After taking the right fork at the campfire, look left to find writing on the wall and translate it (Graffiti 1/11). Next, go straight and take the next right path at the fork to cross the bridge to the Villa. You may stumble upon a woman in a white robe on the bridge. If not, she is either upstairs or in her building on the other side of the square we're about to enter. This is Equitia. Here's what I chose:

  • "What's your story?"
    • "Sorry, what should I have done?"
  • "What's a Vestal Priestess?"
    • "Remind me?"
  • "What do you do here?"
    • "Why?"
  • "How did you end up here?"
      • "A young woman named Karen dragged me out of a river, unconscious, and sent me in here."
      • "It's an older name, but not uncommon where I'm from."
      • "What were you going to say?"
      • "Alright, I'll do that."
      • "What happened to Livia?"
      • "I'll be careful."
    • "I'll see what I can do."
  • "Do you know a way out of here?"
  • "What do you think about The Golden Rule?"
    • "Why not? I have time."
    • "I agree."
  • "I'll be going now."

New Main Goal:

The Common Thread

Ask residents about their stories to identify at least three common threads

Continue through the square until Horatius stops you. Here's what I chose:

  • "What's this about?"
  • "I don't think so."
  • "I'll pass. But I do have some questions for you."
  • "What's your story?"
    • "How did you end up here?"
    • "I'm sorry to hear that."
  • "What can you tell me about the Magistrate?"
  • "Do you know a way out of here?"
  • "Can I see the citizen register?"

Press cn_A to take the Citizen Register.

  • "Thanks." (NOTE: If you ask for it after you've looped, you'll comment that you'll give it back tomorrow.)
  • "What do you think about The Golden Rule?"
    • "Are you saying you're in favor of it?"
    • "Where I'm from, that would be considered "collective punishment, which is a war crime."
    • "Our worlds are very different."
    • "Let's talk about something else..."
  • "Who are you going to vote for?"
    • "Can I help?"
  • "I'll be going now."

New Lead:

Democracy In Action

Figure out how to make Malleolus drop out of the election
Meet Malleolus

Head up the staircase and head inside. Go right upstairs to the top.

Talk to Magistrate Sentius. I used these dialogue choices:

  • "I'm..."
  • "It's beautiful."
  • "Can't say I have."
  • "What counts as sin here?"
    • "I'm not sure if that's a good idea. What is legal isn't always moral, and many of your laws and customs are considered barbaric where I'm from."
    • "Don't your laws allow slave ownership?"
    • "Don't your people watch bloodsports for entertainment?"
    • "Don't women have fewer rights than men?"
    • "Don't you persecute Christians?"
    • "Don't you practice collective punishment?"
    • "Where I'm from, we consider these things to be abhorrent."
  • "What did you mean when you said Proserpina sent me?"
    • "'Uh, yes I do.' (Lie)" (2/10)
    • "'I didn't see anything.' (Lie)" (3/10)
  • "How does the ritual work?"
    • "I did see human remains in the temple."
    • "I'll do my best."
  • "Why can't you investigate?"
    • "Fair enough."
  • "Do you have any suspects?"
    • "Come on. Tell me what you really think."
  • "Why can we understand each other? I don't speak Latin."
    • "Awesome."
  • "If I do this, will you help me get back to my own time?"
    • "I think so."
  • "That's all the questions I had."
    • "Alright, I'm in."
    • "Alright, I'll get started."
    • "I'll get started."
    • "I'll get right on it."

Updated Main Goals:

Point of Origin

Create a time Paradox

The Golden Rule

Figure out who is most likely to break The Golden Rule and inform Sentius

New lead:

Dying Gasp

Find out what's distressing Lucretia

NOTE: This is for people who are playing legit. If you already did this, skip to the text below the red box.

Before doing anything else, save, and draw your gun. He temporarily stops you from shooting him.

  • "It's a gun, and I was planning to kill you with it."
  • "So if I killed you, everyone would die, and I'd return to my original timeline, with no way back?"
  • "I might need to re-think this."

Draw your gun again, and shoot him in the head.

If you didn't already go after the Endings achievements, you should unlock:

Talk to Al

Walk forward and Al will talk to you.

You should unlock (if you don't already have it):

NOTE: The Lie option doesn't matter for the achievement since we're reloading.

Select Continue after skipping the credits.

Talk to Sentius again.

  • "What's your story?"
    • "What's a Decurion?"
      • "Why are you still wearing it?"
    • "How did you end up here?"
    • "How did you come to be Magistrate?"
    • "Let's talk about something else."
  • "Do you know a way out of here?"
  • "What do you think of The Golden Rule?"
  • "I'd better get back to it."

Head back down the stairs, and talk to the woman wearing black (Sentia).

  • "What's your story?"
    • "I'm not from around here."
  • "Do you know of a way out of here?"
    • "Can I help?"
    • "When did you last see her?"
    • "She was seeing someone?"
      • "Why is that?"
    • "Your father didn't mention any of this when I spoke to him. Any idea why?"
    • "Is it possible her lover was involved?"
    • "Sentius? Sentia? Sentilla? Why are your names so similar?"
    • "You look surprisingly relaxed about your sister's disappearance."
      • "Just an observation."
    • "That's all the questions I had."
      • "All right, I'll do it."
      • "I'll see what I can do."
  • "What do you think about The Golden Rule?"
    • "Maybe it's best if you don't go insulting the gods, just in case."
    • "Well, at least we know blasphemy doesn't break The Golden Rule."
    • "I suppose we'll find out sooner or later."
  • "I'll be going now."

Updated Main Goal:

The Golden Rule

(Optional) Tell Sentius you suspect Sentia

New Lead:

Vanishing Act

Figure out what happened to Sentilla

(Optional) Search Sentilla's room

Sentilla's room is the left door closest to the entrance. Read the Note From Sentilla on her bed.

Updated Lead:

(Optional) Talk to Sentia about Sentilla's escape plan

Return to Sentia.

  • "I found a letter in her room which mentioned her plan to escape."

Vanishing Act

(Optional) Talk to Iulia about Sentilla's escape plan

Leave the Villa. You'll find a Graffiti (2/11) on the staircase just passed Dometus, whom we talk to later. Run up the left stairs and go straight across the road. This is the marketplace or the "Forum." Make a left and enter the first building. Talk to Lucretia. These were my choices:

  • "What happened?"
  • "Is there something I can do to help?"
  • "I'll see what I can do."
  • "What's your story?"
  • "How did you end up here?"
    • "I'm sorry to hear that."
    • "Why are you working out of a shrine?"
  • "Tell me more about Naevia."
      • "Go on."
    • "I'll see what I can do."
  • "Do you know a way out of here?"
  • "What do you think about The Golden Rule?"
  • "Can we talk about Iulia?"
    • "Did you hear her say anything about escaping?"
    • "Do you think she was poisoned, or was it self-inflicted?"
    • "Do you know what poisoned her?"
    • "Is there any reason why she might've wanted to die?"
    • "Let's talk about something else."
  • "I'll be going now."

Updated Main Goals:

The Golden Rule

(Optional) Tell Sentius you suspect Lucretia

Dying Gasp

Try to persuade Desius to hand over the silphium resin

New Leads:

Behind Closed Doors

Find a way into the palace

A Thorn In The Paw

Figure out a treatment for rheumatism

(Optional) Find Naevia in the palace

Leave and talk to Rufius, another guard. You can find him standing at the Forum, or further up the stairs to the right of where you entered the Forum. Here were my choices:

  • "What's your story?"
    • "How did you end up here?"
    • "Why are you still wearing your Legendary armor?"
    • "Why do you have a weapon?"
  • "Not much of a talker, are you?"
      • "Are you suffering from rheumatism?"
    • I figured it out on my own.

Talk to him again.

  • "What do you think about The Golden Rule?"
    • "I know the feeling. I've lived through a pandemic."
    • "What do you think is coming?"
    • "I think you're right."
  • "Who are you going to vote for?"
    • "Can I do anything to change that?"
  • "I'll be going now."

Follow the objective marker to talk to Desius. Before talking to him, however, he may argue with Vergil about wanting a bow.

New Lead:

Straight As An Arrow

Obtain a bow

Select the following options:

  • "I need some silphium resin."
  • "How would I come up with a thousand denarii?"
  • "You're price gouging over life-saving medicine? What is wrong with you?"
    • "Did you hear that?"
    • "The whisper."
    • "What happened to Naevia?"
  • "How about I just take it instead?"
    • "'Is that what YOU want? Hand it over. Now.' (Bluff)"
  • "I don't have that kind of money."

Now, you can either steal it from him or steal money and buy it during your next loop. For now though, continue with the conversation.

  • "What's your story?"
    • "Let's hear it."
    • "You chose the girl, right?"
    • "So you took her with you after all?"
    • "Commiserations."
  • "Do you know of a way out of here?"
    • "Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for them."
  • "What do you think about The Golden Rule?"
    • "I'll see what I can do." (NOTE: If you don't walk in on the conversation, this can also start Straight As An Arrow.)
  • "Who are you going to vote for?"
    • "Let's talk about something else."
  • "I'll be going now."

Updated Main Goal:

  • "What's your story?"
  • "Tell me about the city's history."
    • "Isn't it common for Romans to copy Greek architecture?"
  • "Tell me about the city's architecture."
    • "If they bring water into the city, could we use them to escape?"
    • "Tell me about the temple up on the bluff."
    • "Let's talk about something else."
  • "Do you know a way out of here?"
    • "What do you mean?"
  • "What do you think about The Golden Rule?"
    • "I think so, yes."
    • "How do you remove a god from power?"
  • "I noticed the graffiti. What does it mean?"
    • "Why does someone think that?"
    • "I see."
    • "I'm sorry to hear that."
  • "Do you know who's writing the graffiti?"
      • "Cultists?"
      • "Let me look into it for you."
    • "I'll see what I can do."

Time Loop 1, Part 2

Talk to Georgius, whose shop is next to Vergil's.

  • "My nation doesn't exist yet."
  • "What's your story?"
  • "Why set up a tailor shop here?
      • "Yes, more or less."
    • "I suppose so."
  • "How did you end up here?"
      • "Why don't you tell me what you do remember?"
    • "So you floated down the Tiber?"
    • "Let's talk about something else."

    • "Sorry, did I say the wrong thing?"
    • "The last attempt?"
    • "Why don't you tell me?"

    • "Got it, thanks."
  • "What do you think about The Golden Rule?"
    • "Why do you say that?"

    • "Sounds simple enough."

The Golden Rule

(Optional) Tell Sentius you suspect Domitus

Updated Lead:

The Sinner

Ask Fabia who is threatening Vergil

It's possible Vergil is scrubbing away at graffiti you can translate (Graffiti 3/11) at his shop. Next, go up the stairs to the left of his shop and make a right into the building behind it. Pick up the sponge on a stick to unlock:

There are three graffitis here:

  1. In the middle of the left wall where you came in (Graffiti 4/11).
  2. In the right corner of the far wall (Graffiti 5/11).
  3. To the right of the Golden Statue on the right wall (Graffiti 6/11).

Next, return to the stairs and jump over the wall. Save and make a left and carefully round the corner, read the note on the wall by the door to the shrine. Now save and attempt to go down the steps. You'll get stopped by Fabia. Use these dialogue options:

  • "How is this my problem?"
  • "Just callous. Good luck!"

A few seconds later, you should unlock:

  • Callous

Allow Fabia to die in the collapsing temple

    Callous
Offline Mode - These achievements require play in game modes that do not necessitate a connection to any online services.Single Player - These achievements can be obtained by a single player.

Reload your save, then get stopped by her again, this time selecting:

  • "I'll get right on it."
  • "Did you hear that?"
  • "I heard a voice whisper, 'No!'"
  • "Do not go in there!"
  • "Just trust me."
  • "Wait, who are you?"

New Lead:

Intruder

Confront the armed man entering the city

Continue forward to the Roman Baths. You get stopped by the Armed Stranger. Select this option:

  • "'Yes. I saw him worshiping in a small round shrine just inside the city. Second building on your left.' (Lie)" (4/10).

When he dies, you should unlock:

NOTE: While directly killing people breaks The Golden Rule, killing them indirectly (which we just did) does not. This resolves Intruder.

Head over to Equitia and talk to her. She may be talking to Horatius.

  • "I've been asking people about how they wound up here, trying to find a pattern..."
    • "Some people mentioned a river."
    • "Some people mentioned an encounter with a stranger on the riverbank."
    • "Some people mentioned memory lapses."
    • "That's right."
    • "She was wearing a hoodie. How could you have known that?"
    • "Alright, I'll meet you in the baths."

Updated Main Goal:

The Common Thread

Meet Equitia in the baths

Follow Equitia to the baths (where you met the Assassin). You can press cn_A to move automatically; however, be careful not to fall in (like I did). If you do, the stairs are right behind you. Talk to Equitia again.

Okay, after that enlightening conversation, we now have a completed Main Goal, two more Main Goals, an updated Lead, as well as multiple new Leads.

Talk to Fabia in her bakery, which is between Lucretia and Desius.

  • "He had a tragic accident in that shrine."
  • "'No.' (Lie)" (5/10).
  • "What's your story?"
    • "How did you end up here?"
    • "I'm sorry to hear that."
  • "Do you know a way out of here?"
    • "I don't belong here."
  • "What do you think about The Golden Rule?"
    • "I like your optimism."
  • "Any idea who's threatening Vergil?"
    • "Thanks, that does help."
  • "I'll be going now."

Updated Lead:

The Sinner

Investigate Domitus, Horatius, and Rufius

Return to the shrine that collapsed on the Assassin. Take the Wooden Bow, Bounty Notice, Fletched Arrows, and denarius. This resolves Straight As An Arrow. Next, run through the Forum. Hopefully, Desius doesn't stop you. If he does, reject his offer. We're not ready for him yet. Take a left and go up the stairs all the way to the top, then make a right and run across the bridge. Continue up the stairs, taking a right when they end. Octavia stops you.

  • "I'm fine, thanks."
  • "What's your story?"
  • "How did you end up here?"
      • "I'm sorry for that."
    • "Let's hope so."
    • "Let's talk about something else."
  • "Do you know a way out of here?"
    • "Thanks, I'll look into it."
  • "What do you know about The Golden Rule?"
  • "Seems that way to me."
  • "Oh, there's going to be some divine intervention, alright."
  • "So your a Christian?"
    • "I'm looking for a Roman plaque that was removed from the obelisk. Can you tell me where that is?"
    • "Fair enough."
  • "I'll be going now."

*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

  • "Alright, I'll talk to him."
  • "Ulpius, can we talk?"
  • "It's wrong. And you know it."
  • "You're being selfish."
  • "What happens now?"

Updated Main Goal:

The Golden Rule

(Optional) Tell Sentius you suspect Ulpius

Updated Leads:

Vanishing Act

(Optional) Ask Ulpius about Sentilla's disappearance

The Roman Plaque

Follow Octavia to see where she prays

Search Octavia's home for the Roman plaque

Let's follow Octavia all the way through the caves until she locks the gate behind her.

Head back up to the amphitheater. While heading back, you can turn right and descend two flights of stairs. Go past the statue in a dress that looks like she's running and you'll find a damaged shack on the right with a chest inside. Loot the chest for denarii and a Bottle of Wine. Return the way you came, making a right just before you reach the amphitheater, and go up the stairs, stopping at a statue strapped to a wheel. This is Ixion. Look at it, look away, and look back. The statue is now looking directly at you (Underworld 1/4).

Go through the amphitheater down the stairs, and make a left to talk to Duli.

  • "What's your story?"
    • "What did you do?"
    • "Did someone think you were going to steal?"
    • "Is that all?"
    • "A 'liability'?"

Take the note and continue with the conversation.

  • "It says they caught you trespassing several times, and they locked you up to stop you from breaking The Golden Rule."
  • "What treasure?"
  • "If you give me the key, I can find out what it unlocks."
  • "Let me talk to the Magistrate about getting you out of here."
  • "Then maybe it's time we had a new magistrate."
  • "I'll see what I can do."
  • "Do you know of a way out of here?"
    • "That's not what I said. I asked if you know a way out of here."
    • "Never mind."
  • "What do you think about The Golden Rule?"
    • "Never mind."
  • "I'll be going now."

Now we can start clearing out leads.

New Leads:

Water Under The Bridge

Figure out how to get into the upper cistern

Get Duli's key to the upper cistern by releasing him from the cage

A Virtuous Man

Figure out how to get Galerius elected Magistrate

Ask Galerius about running for Magistrate

It was about here when I heard the whispers.

Updated Main Goal:

Divine Intervention

Ask Equitia for help interpreting the whispers

Return to Equitia.

  • "Can I ask you some questions about escaping the Underworld?"
    • "I heard some more whispers..."
    • "Perhaps. She said, 'Wade against the current' and, 'Her tears run through the city' and, 'She weeps where the water flows.'"
    • "I was hoping you could tell me what it meant."
    • "Alright, I'd better get back to it."

This completes Divine Intervention.

Now, some people may have this achievement already, but unless you speak to Domitus and purchase the key (you probably don't have 1,000 denarii yet), you have to return to where Ulpius jumped in order to enter Malleolus's villa. Stand where you saw him jump, and jump into the pool. You know you're in the right spot if the camera changes to look directly at the pool. This should unlock:

This resolves The Locked Villa. Talk to Malleolus.

  • "So, you're Quinctius?"
    • "You have one green eye, and one blue eye, just like the description in this execution order from Emperor Nero."
    • "I can't prove it's you, yet. But I will."
  • "I want you to withdraw from the election."
    • "Never mind."
  • "What's your story?"
    • "What will you do if you win?"
    • "How will you do that?"
  • "I'm pretty sure The Golden Rule is definitely real."
      • "What would it take to prove to you it's real?"
      • "Even if I can't prove it, if I'm right, then accepting it will avert disaster. If I'm wrong, then accepting it will make the city a better place. Isn't that a good thing?"
    • "I can see nothing I say is going to convince you."
  • "Do you know a way out of here?"
  • "Any idea where I'd find a Roman plaque?"
    • "Fair enough."
  • "I'll be going now."

Grab the Key to Malleolus's Villa to the left of the door and unlock it to leave. The key also unlocks a door upstairs, but we have no reason to go there at this time.

Next, head to the Slums and talk to Livia.

  • "What's your story?"
    • "I'm sorry, I have no idea what that means."
  • "Do you know a way out of here?"
    • "Do you... need help?"
  • "I figured it out. I know where we are."
    • The Underworld."
    • "You were."
    • "Sure."

This completes Pandora's Box. And, with that, it's time to break The Golden Rule for the first time. You can press cn_Y to view the journal, scroll to Dying Gasp, and either press cn_X or click on it with your mouse to track it. Go to the marker and steal the silphium resin.

Updated Lead:

Dying Gasp

Follow the Magistrate back to his shrine and use his portal again

Now we need to run back to the shrine. But first, since the Golden Rule is already broken, make a pit stop in the short tunnel where the campfire is. The door may or may not still be blocked by the Golden Statue there. If it is, you can shoot it. Try not to use too many bullets, however. Or, as a friendly reminder if you're using console commands (~), the cheat is "give ammo # (replace # with the amount you want)" Go through the door and loot the chest for 4,000 Denarii.

However, that doesn't count as stealing, so before finishing the loop, stop at the Slums (very next right). Head through the tavern, up the stairs, and around the corner through the curtain. On the far end of the desk on the right is a key. Steal it and use it on the chest in the room to steal Aurelia's diary and another 2,000 denarii. If you're playing without cheating, you should unlock:

On your way out of here, head up the stairs on the left and enter the room on the right. Read the Incomplete Note on the desk on the left.

Updated Leads:

The Golden Rule

(Optional) Tell Sentius you suspect Rufius

The Sinner

Persuade Rufius to stop threatening Vergil

NOTE: You may have the next achievement, but this part is related to another achievement.

Finally, return to the shrine and step through the portal (Loop 1/10) to unlock:

This completes Time Loop 1.

Time Loop 2

Take a few steps forward.

Dying Gasp

Give some silphium resin to Lucretia before Iulia dies

Talk to Galerius, selecting the following options:

  • "...we've had this conversation before."
  • "Your name is Galerius, and you're about to offer to take me to see Sentius so he can tell me about the Golden Rule."
  • "No problem. I have to go."

He gives you the Zip Line Handle Bar. Now you can use the zip lines scattered around the city.

  • "Thanks. You seem capable. Perhaps could take care of some urgent problems for me?"
  • "I need you to stop Fabia from entering the empty shrine, and tell the new arrival he'll find what he's looking for in there."
  • "That's it! Now go, as fast as you can!"

Quickly use the zip line attached to the rock on the left, then follow him through the amphitheater.

Talk to Galerius once he's done talking to the Assassin. One place he likes to go to is the island by the lake. You can get there by following the road back to the bridges, then taking the descending road.

  • "'Just a lucky guess.' (Lie)" (6/10)
  • "I'm reliving the same day over and over again.
  • "Like Sisyphus? How so?"
  • "Uh, yeah, at least there's that."
  • "You're a good man, Galerius."

Talk to him again.

  • "What do you need?"
  • "Sure. Why not?"
  • "I'll see what I can do."
  • "What's your story?
    • "I have time."
    • "I"m sorry to hear that."
    • "I'm glad things worked out in the end."
    • "'Sure.' (Lie)" (7/10)
  • "Do you know a way out of here?"
  • "What do you think about The Golden Rule?"
  • "What do you think about the election?"
  • "Ever thought about running for Magistrate yourself?"
    • "Why is Duli in a cell?"
    • "Let's talk about something else."
  • "I'll be going now."

Updated Main Goals:

The Golden Rule

(Optional) Tell Sentius you suspect Galerius

New Lead:

Secret Admirer

Obtain a flower for Galerius

Return to the starting area and use the zip line. This may take a few tries, but you want to hesitate a half-second, then press cn_B. If you timed it correctly, you should land on the tiny island. Take the flower, then drop off. Under the island in the water, you'll find a statue reaching for a fruit tree. This is Tantilus. Look away and look back (Underworld 2/4). The statue is now looking directly at you.

Let's go to the Slums and talk to Aurelia. Furthermore, Galerius also sometimes hangs out there. However, Desius might stop you as you're running through the Forum trying to avoid him.

  • "Go on."
  • "'No.' (Lie)" (8/10)
  • "I'm interested."
  • "I am."
  • "A golden bow?"
  • "But you want me to steal it?"
    • "Why can't I just take it?"
    • "Why can't you just do it yourself?"
  • "Isn't that extremely dangerous?"
    • "Fair point."
    • "That's all the questions I had."
  • Alright, I'll do it."

Take the "Fake" Golden Bow.

New Lead:

The Gilding

Enter the Shrine of Diana

This is coming up soon.

Head to the slums, and talk to Aurelia. We're going to flirt with her using the following options:

  • "And you're as charming as you are beautiful."
  • "What? You came onto me!"

This should unlock:

As I said earlier, this works with either gender, so it's not missable. Keep talking to her, using these options:

  • "I'm looking for Khabash. Have you seen him?"
  • What's your story?"
  • "Do you know a way out of here?"
    • "Err, I was talking about escape from the city."
    • "Tell me more about what I would be buying."
    • "If you have a way out, why don't you use it yourself?
    • "Isn't it kind of unethical to keep all these people trapped in here, knowing there's a way out?"
    • "Not interested. I know it's a scam."
  • "What do you think about The Golden Rule."
  • "Heard any interesting gossip?"
  • "Here's ten denarii."
  • "Here's another ten denarii."
  • "Let's talk about something else."
  • "I'll be going now."

Does anybody else hate her? It kinda makes me want to steal more of her money at the end of this loop. Kleptomaniac achievement anyone?

Now, let's translate more Graffiti. Facing Aurelia, strafe right and translate the writing on the wall (Graffiti 8/11). Facing Aurelia, look to the right, and walk past Livia. Translate the writing under the awning on the left building (Graffiti 9/11). Return to Aurelia (as much as I hate her, she makes a good landmark). Facing her, turn around, and translate the writing on the wall directly in front of you, just behind the Golden Statue (Graffiti 10/11). I'm saving one for last, and after that, I won't point anymore out. Furthermore, the achievement didn't unlock for me until after I had found my eleventh one.

Now, we can talk to Galerius. Follow the quest marker to wherever he's located.

  • "I have that flower you wanted."
  • "What's the worst that could happen?"
  • "I think you should tell her how you feel, consequences be damned!"
  • "Alright."
  • "That's sweet. I'll do it."

Updated Lead:

Secret Admirer

Give the flower to Equitia

Head over to Equitia and talk to her.

  • "Someone wanted me to give you this flower..."
  • "I'm supposed to tell you it's from your 'secret admirer' and that they'll keep their distance. They want you to know you're loved."
  • "You know already?"
  • "So what should I tell him?"
  • "I'm sure he'll be happy to hear that."

Head to the Clinic next, and talk to Lucretia.

  • "I have silphium Resin. Here, take a little."
  • "'I heard she got sick earlier, and went to find medicine.' (Lie)" (9/10).
  • "I keep hearing the statues whispering. Is that normal?"
    • "Forget I said anything."
  • "I'll be going now."

This resolves Dying Gasp. You should also unlock:

Talk to Iulia. NOTE: I had trouble with her remaining in bed for a minute.

  • "Can I ask what happened to you?"
    • "I want to know how someone poisoned you without breaking The Golden Rule."
    • "Is that who poisoned you?"
    • "I can't help unless you tell me what happened."
    • "I have all the time in the world."
    • "Why would he lend you so much money?"
    • "Hemlock, right?"
    • "Surely that would've broken The Golden Rule?"
    • "So you poisoned yourself?"
    • "I'm so sorry to hear that."
    • "So what'll happen to you now?"
    • "I'm sorry. Can I do anything to help?"
    • "I have a better idea: How much would it cost to buy your freedom?"
    • "Perhaps I can help him too?"
    • "I'll see what I can do."
  • "Do you know anything about Sentilla's disappearance?"
    • "Fair enough."
  • "What's your story?"
    • "I'm sorry to hear that."
    • "I understand."
  • "What do you think about The Golden Rule?"
    • "Can I help?"
    • "We'll see about that."
  • "I'll be going now."

NOTE: Don't ask her if she knows a way out. It'll just piss her off for obvious reasons.

Return to Galerius.

  • "I delivered that flower to Equitia for you."
  • "She knew it was from you. She asked me to tell you that once she turns thirty-six, she's allowed to marry, and that she loves you too."
  • "I'm listening."
  • "I'll be going now."

This resolves Secret Admirer. It also unlocks:

Go past the Forum up the stairs, stopping when they turn right. Look at the statue on the left. This is The Belide. Now look away and look back (Underworld 3/4). Continue up the stairs, turning right when they end at the palace, and cross the bridge. Go further up the stairs until you come to the statue pushing a bolder. This is Sisyphus. Look at it, look away, and look back (Underworld 4/4). NOTE: You have to be at his side. You should unlock:

Credit for their locations: jaytee-8376

NOTE: I've read that this achievement only unlocks after completing The Common Thread. Some have even said if you look at the four statues (many of the statues turn their heads, but only four count for the achievement) before completing it, it should still unlock upon unlocking Bloodless Shadow.

Finally, return to Octavia.

  • "Actually, I need to talk to Ulpius."

We again see that Ulpius is ready to jump to his death. Except this time, we're ready to stop him.

  • "Alright, I'll talk to him."
  • "Is this what Sentilla would want?"
  • "You'd never believe me if I told you."
  • "Maybe I can help you solve your problem."
  • "I've already saved Iulia's life, and I'd like to help you too."
  • "Wait, why do you need two thousand denarii."
  • "No. You'd be free."
  • "Of course."
  • "Here's your money."

You should unlock:

  • "You could tell me about your relationship with Sentilla."
  • "Why don't you start from the beginning."
  • "Is it possible she escaped somehow?"
  • "Any ideas who might've taken her?"
  • "I'll get right on it."

This resolves A Permanent Solution.

Vanishing Act

Search the locked room in Malleolus's villa for Sentilla

Right where Octavia was scrubbing is another Graffiti (11/11). You should unlock:

I'm not mentioning where more are for the rest of this walkthrough - you can find them all over the place. I just wanted to save that one for laughs. Mostly because Malleolus deserves it.

Almost ready for the palace. We just need to do one more thing and hope the Golden Rule doesn't get broken first. Go around to Malleolus's villa. There's a zip line you can take to get to the other end of the bridge, and a second one that takes you to Equitia's villa after the first couple flights of stairs. Let's talk to Horatius and Domitus. Horatius should be first.

  • "Can we talk about Sentilla?"
    • "I'm looking for her."
    • "Sometimes fresh eyes help."
    • "Did you notice anything suspicious before she went missing?"
    • "Let's talk about something else."
  • "I'll be going now."

Updated Lead:

Vanishing Act

(Optional) Ask the residents of the villas for clues about Sentilla's disappearance

Talk to Domitus next.

  • "Do you know anything about Sentilla's disappearance?"
    • "Yes. Subtle, but I think I know what you mean.
  • "I'll be going now."

Unlock the door to Malleolus's villa and talk to him.

  • Do you know anything about Sentilla's disappearance?
    • "What aren't you telling me?"

Okay, now we're ready to head over to the Shrine of Diana.

The Gilding

Return to Desius

Take the quiver at Diana's feet, then try to leave the way you came.

  • "Yes, I have it."
  • "You locked me in here?"
  • "How is this not against the Golden Rule? You said you'd split the riches between the two of us."
  • "How can I trust you, after you double-crossed me like this?"
  • "There's no way I'm giving you this bow. I'll find another way out."

Next, save.

Updated Lead:

The Gilding

Escape the temple

First, make sure God Mode is turned off. Shoot the hornets' next with the Golden Bow, then stand there and let the hornets slowly kill you, unlocking:

Reload and shoot the hornets' nest. Go through the hole it creates.

Updated Lead:

The Gilding

Find a way to return to the city

Follow the linear path, dropping down three ledges. Use your beautiful new bow to turn both sets of algae to gold. Shooting the first one unlocks:

Does anyone else wonder why turning the hornets' nest to gold doesn't count towards the achievement? Jump to the second golden algae, then to the ledge, and crouch for a few feet. Read Naevia's Journal Vol. 1 on the left for some backstory before continuing up three ledges, then jump across to the next one. Continue through the linear cave up two more ledges before grabbing arrows, then gilding the vines to get across.

(Man, am I ever gonna gild Desius after I'm done with this... I don't even care if it breaks The Golden Rule or not. I can just count it as one of my 10 Loops. Heh...)

Gild the next vines to cross the gap. Next, gild the vertical vines and climb them. Climb the next two ledges to make it into the palace. This completes Behind Closed Doors. Loot the Old Chest for arrows before continuing through the linear path. Now, we're starting to face peeled golden statues. Try to gather as many of them as you can together.

Raziel+M0RAGLAR pointed out a comment: "When you shoot the curtains to trap bunches of statues behind them, you can still shoot and kick them with less risk of getting attacked and mobbed by them."

Gild one closest to you and press cn_A to kick it, hopefully knocking several over. After you've knocked over 10 of them, you should unlock:

  • Striker

Topple 10 peeled statues by kicking others into them

    Striker
Offline Mode - These achievements require play in game modes that do not necessitate a connection to any online services.Single Player - These achievements can be obtained by a single player.

However, if you don't mind using God Mode for this achievement, here's the code:

Controller: cn_LTcn_RTcn_LBcn_RBcn_LTcn_RTcn_LBcn_RBcn_Acn_A
Console Command (~): god

Quick reminder that the Command Console (~) cheat for more arrows if you run out is give arrow # (replace # with your desired amount).

Run past the first one (kick it if needed) over the fallen door off to the right, then leave to the courtyard. The camera will change on you.

Updated Lead:

The Gilding

Reach the upper floor of the palace

Keep pushing forward to the square on the right back corner and drop through the hole.

Several Peeling Golden Statues incoming! If they trap you, gild one and kick it to get them off you, then continue down through the linear path. Search the Old Chest on the right before the turn for more arrows. Then continue past the peeling statues, gild the ferns, jump on them, and climb the ledge. Search another Old Chest for more arrows, then continue on the path. Straight ahead is another Old Chest. Search it for arrows and denarii, then gild the fern on the left, and climb up two ledges. Head left, and gild the vines to run across, then continue on the path. Crouch and shoot the vase to lure a peeling statue, then gild it. Grab the arrows as you leave through the door. Again, continue along the path forward through the next door. Go to the desk, and pick up the Key To Palace Doors, then read Naevia's Journal Vol. 2 for more of the story. Finally, unlock the door on the left to continue down the path up the stairs.

Updated Lead:

The Gilding

Reach the front of the palace

Again, continue down the path, gilding anything that gets in your way. (Again, you can shoot the curtains to trap the peeling statues, but that requires using some of your extremely limited supply of bullets. Keep in mind if you're playing legit, they're required for a missable achievement). Walk over the fallen board in the back of the room on the right and gild the vines, crouch, and walk across. Then, gild the next vines and walk across. When you gild the last of the vines, you have to shimmy across on the wall. Be careful though, since you can fall. You would have to run all the way back if that were to happen. Crouch, and continue forward through the curtains past the peeling statues. There's another Old Chest around the corner that you can search for arrows if you're running low (you probably are at this point). Keep going from hallway to hallway until you reach a room with Naevia's Journal Vol. 3, which you can read for more of the story. Make a left on the balcony, followed by a left at the door that gets knocked down and probably hits you in the face. Search the Old Chest for arrows before making two rights to get back on the balcony and continue on to the left, then right, and make a left back into the palace.

Make a left up the stairs, then two rights up another flight of stairs. Finally, walk up to the gilded cage.

  • "You can talk?"
  • "Who are you?"

Naevia (Missing Person 1/4) shows up to talk to you. You must answer correctly.

  • "You must be Naevia."
  • "This has nothing to do with me."
  • "It's not just this statue whispering to me. A lot of them do it. But it's always the same voice."
  • "It's like someone else is whispering to me through the statues."
  • "No, I swear."
  • "I ended up here by accident. All I want to do is leave."
  • "I got trapped in tunnels under the city and came up inside the palace."
  • "I never had any intention of hurting you."
  • "Wait! I can undo all this if you tell me the treatment for rheumatism."
  • "I can wind back time, and make it so that I never came here."
  • "I'm re-living the same day over and over again."
  • "I just need to get back to the shrine of Proserpina."
  • "Because you'll never remember this conversation."
  • "Goodbye, Naevia."

Credit for posting the correct dialogue options: DiegoTan (Confrontation 1/3).

Turn around and walk past the cage, through the hall, to the left, up the stairs, and to the balcony. This resolves The Gilding. You should unlock:

A Thorn in The Paw

Tell Lucretia how to treat rheumatism

Take the zipline to return to the market. Talk to Lucretia.

  • "I figured out how to treat rheumatism..."
  • "She's alive, but she just wants to be left alone. And the treatment is willow bark."

Take the Willow Bark.

  • "Alright. I can do that."
  • "I'll be going now."

Updated Lead:

A Thorn in The Paw

Give some willow bark to Rufius

Return to Malleolus's villa.

Head up the stairs hidden behind a wall, and find the door you need to unlock. You find Claudia.

  • "Can we talk?"
  • "Do you know anything about Sentilla's disappearance?"
    • "Fair enough."
  • "Why are you locked in this room?"
  • "How would you like some help getting back at Malleolus?"
  • "I don't think Malleolus is who he says he is."
  • "Just a hunch. I was hoping we could figure out his true identity together."
  • ...woman...
    • Option 1: "I just hate to see such a beautiful woman treated so poorly." (NOTE: This option is only available if your character is male).
    • Option 2: "We women have to stick together." (NOTE: This option is only available if your character is female).
  • "What do you want?"
  • "Why do you want wine?"
  • "That's all the questions I had."
  • "I have some wine right here."

Take the Letter From Quinctius.

NOTE: Flirting with Aurelia is not needed if you already have the wine. You can also find a bottle of wine at the lake if you gild algae near the statue that's sitting on a rock by the stairs. Aurelia will sell it to you for 10,000 denarii.

  • "According to this bounty letter from Emporer Nero, he's the person who started the fires last year."
  • "No, I think I'll hang onto it."
  • "I didn't lie to you."
  • "I'll be going now."

In case anyone's curious, there are three ways we can get the wine:

  1. (Golden Bow required) Return to the lake. Go down the steps into the water and shoot the Algae with an arrow, then jump on it (I struggled with this during my first playthrough for some reason). The bottle of wine is on the ledge with the chest straight in front of you.
  2. Go through the Slums down the stairs, and up the flight of stairs on the right (or you can come from the other direction as we did earlier). Make a left at the Golden Statue and search the Old Chest inside the broken-down shack for denarii and a bottle of wine.
  3. (10,000+ denarii required) This is the hardest one, and it requires you to have not spoken to Aurelia yet. When she flirts with you, use these responses:
    1. "I guess you've never met anyone as fabulously wealthy as I am."
    2. "I have more than ten thousand denarii on me."
    3. "Choose Malleolus."
    4. "I think he'll be more amenable to 'tributes' than Sentius."
    5. "Sounds good to me, let me take that off your hands."

Updated Lead:

Democracy In Action

Ask Malleolus/Quinctius to drop out of the election.

Talk to Malle... I mean Quinctius. His run for election ends now.

  • "I want you to drop out of the election."
  • "Because I know you're Quinctius. Your wife gave me your love letter. And Nero wants you dead."
  • "No, I'm not, fortunately for you."
  • "Not if you withdraw from the election immediately and release everyone from debt bondage to you."
  • "I will."

This resolves Democracy In Action.

Now that Malleolus is out of the way, we can talk to Galerius about running.

  • "Ever thought about running for Magistrate yourself?"
  • "Mallelous withdrew from the election."
  • "I'll be going now."

Talk to Sentius.

  • "...we've had this conversation before."
  • "I broke it."
  • "I was trying to save someone's life."
  • "May I have the key to the upper cistern?"
    • "Why?"
    • "I think you're hiding something."
    • "'Fine, I'll let it go.' (Lie)" (10/10)

If this is your tenth lie, you should unlock:

  • "I'd like you to release Duli."
    • "What exactly did he do?"
  • "I'd better get back to it."

Find Rufius. You can set A Thorn In The Paw to track if you need to. Talk to him.

  • "About your rheumatism..."
  • "I figured out a treatment. Eat a pinch of this willow bark, and you should feel better in no time."
  • "What's your story?"
    • "How did you end up here?"
    • "Thanks for sharing your story."
  • "Do you know a way out of here?"
  • "What do you think about The Golden Rule?"
    • "I know the feeling. I've lived through a pandemic."
    • "What do you think is coming?"
    • "I think you're right."
  • "Are you the one threatening Vergil?"
    • "I know it was you. I found an incomplete letter to him in your quarters."
    • "Alright, no problem."

This conversation resolves A Thorn in the Paw.

Updated Lead:

The Sinner

Tell Vergil that Rufius will leave him alone

Talk to him again.

  • "Who are you going to vote for?"
    • "Anything I can do to change that?"
  • "Any idea where I'd find a Roman plaque?"
    • "Come on, I helped treat your rheumatism."

Take the Key to Secret Shrine.

  • Got it. Thanks."
  • I'll be going now."

Return to Vergil at the Forum.

  • "Don't worry about the threat, it's just Rufius, and he's never going to hurt you."
  • "I found an incomplete note in his house."
  • "Yes, and he won't be bothering you anymore."
  • "I found a treatment for his rheumatism, which was making him agitated and compounding some other personal issues."
  • "Happy to help. I think he wants to clean up his graffiti, too."
  • "I'll be going now."

This should unlock:

This resolves The Sinner.

Next, go to the amphitheater behind the Forum. There are pillars. Behind the closest one to the left statue when you enter from the Slums side are vines. Gild them, then climb them and open the chest for 1,000 denarii and arrows. You should unlock this once you reach the top:

With the setup to the election out of the way, let's commit a crime.

New Main Goal:

Run!

Follow Sentius back to the shrine and use his portal again

Run back to the Shrine of Proserpina and use the portal created by Sentius. That's it for Time Loop 2. Next up is Time Loop 3, where we go after the plaques and hold the election.

Time Loop 3: The Plaques

Take a few steps forward to complete Run! and talk to Galerius like normal.

  • "...and I need you to take care of some things urgently."
    • "Iulia's dying but Lucretia can't help her without this silphium. Take some of it and go, quickly."
    • "Rufius has been threatening Vergil, but if you give him some of this willow bark, it will treat his rheumatism and he'll settle down."
    • "I need you to stop Fabia from entering the empty shrine, and tell the new arrival he'll find what he's looking for in there."
    • "Tell Malleolus you know his real name is Quinctius, thanks to Claudia, and that Nero sends his regards. Tell him to withdraw from the election and release his debt bondsmen."
    • "That's it! Now go, as fast as you can!"

While you're waiting for Galerius to finish setting everything up for you, it's time to begin collecting the plaques.

The Roman Plaque

Head to the amphitheatre, then enter the caves where you followed Octavia using the bow or gun/flashlight to light your way. I prefer the bow because, while dimmer, you see more of the area than with the flashlight. Go through the tunnel passing the descending stairs on the left until you reach the gate Octavia led you to during the first loop, and unlock it. Go through and take the Roman plaque. This resolves The Roman Plaque.

Now, return to the Forum. Before doing anything further, make sure Galerius is done. Then, while the election should be wrapped up in Galerius's favor, if you have 3,000 denarii handy, talk to Desius.

  • "You'd never believe me if I told you."
  • "It's not for sale."
  • "Who are you going to vote for?"
    • "I'd like you to vote for Galerius."
    • "Would a gift change your mind?"
    • "Fine, here's three thousand denarii."
  • "I'll be going now."

Sure, buying his vote is a little pricey, but it's not like you need the money anymore. And besides, it helps to have an insurance vote in your pocket.

The Egyptian Plaque

Return to Georgius.

  • "I know, I know, you want to know where I'm from, but I really want to ask you some questions.
  • "I'm looking for Khabash, and I heard you were one of the last people to see him..."
    • "You can trust me. We foreigners have to stick together, remember?
    • "How is that a problem?"
    • "Someone who had been drinking?"
    • "Where is the Temple of Demeter?"
    • "I'm off to the Temple of Demeter, then."

Updated Lead:

The Egyptian Plaque

Search the Greek temple for clues to Khabash's whereabouts

Just so we don't have to come back, talk to him again.

  • "Not yet."
  • "Do you know where I might find a Greek plaque?"
  • "I'll be going now."

Head towards the baths, making a right at the statue just past where you met Fabia, and go through the door to enter the Temple of Demeter. Around to the right is a hole you can crouch through.

Ask the old man if he's seen Khabash

Head down the walkway and talk to the The Hermit Philosopher (Missing Person 2/4).

NOTE: Whatever you do, do NOT answer "Yes" or "No" for ANY philosophical question. Since the conversation would be too one-sided, it would just piss him off.

  • "You first."
  • "I'm looking for Khabash."
  • "Pluto, god of the Underworld."
  • "Sounds easy enough."
  • "Yes."
  • "In most situations."
  • "Of course."
  • "There's more than one."
  • "The correct moral code depends on the laws and customs of whichever society you're in."
  • "Yes."
  • "No, I suppose not."
  • "What's your point?"
  • "I'm not sure about that. What about 'do not kill'?"
  • "I agree."
  • "What's your story?"
    • "I'm listening."
    • "Hades? You mean Pluto?"
    • "Why can't you return to the surface?"
    • "Why can't you tell me your name?"
    • "Where is everyone else?"
    • "How have you survived down here?"
    • "Let's talk about something else."
  • "Do you know a way out of here?"
  • "What do you think about The Golden Rule?"
  • "Do you know where I can find a plaque that was removed from the obelisk?"
    • "That's the one."
    • "Alright, then tell me where Khabash is."
    • "I'm with you so far."
    • "What did it say?"
    • "What's in there?"

Take the Key to the Catacombs.

  • "I'll be going now."
  • "Alright, I will."

Updated Lead:

The Egyptian Plaque

Enter the Catacombs

Make a right (or turn around if you have to) down the descending walkway, continuing until you reach the door, then unlock it and push through. Continue along the path until you reach what looks like a sewer system, then make a right. More peeled golden statues to put out of their misery here. Continue straight until you can descend a staircase, then push through the door. Continue through straight ahead, either turning Peeled statues into regular statues (and kicking them into other peeling statues if you still need the achievement) or ignoring them. Jump over the rubble when you have to. Continue until you run into Khabash (Missing Person 3/4).

  • "...Who are you?"
  • "I'm just looking for an Egyptian plaque."
  • "I want to return it to the obelisk."

Take the Egyptian plaque.

This resolves The Egyptian Plaque.

  • "That was a little too easy..."
  • "The fourth plaque? You know about that?"
  • "May I have it?"
  • "Why?"
  • "How so?"
  • "The Egyptian Underworld?"
  • "So what's the problem with this plaque?"
  • "What does the inscription say?"
  • "Please, don't!"
  • "Now I'm going to have to go in after it..."
  • "We'll see. First, I have some questions for you."
  • "What's your story?"
  • "Do you know a way out of here?"
  • "What do you think about The Golden Rule?"
  • "What do you think is down there?"
    • "That just makes me want to go down there even more."
  • "I'll be going now."
  • "Definitely"
  • "I'll find a way back up."

The Mystery Plaque

*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Swim to shore (there are steps) and push forward. Take a left when you can, then straight after a right, then another right, continuing to follow the path until you come to a circular platform that looks like a pressure plate. Step on it, then sidestep the boulder as it comes at you (Boulder 1/3). They're not that hard to dodge. Continue ahead, following the path until you reach the second pressure plate. Sidestep the boulder that comes up behind you (Boulder 2/3). Make a right, and Khabash stops you just before the third pressure plate. You must answer correctly here.

  • "There's no need for this to end in violence."
  • "Just hear me out..."
  • "If something can be destroyed by the truth, it deserves to be destroyed by the truth."
  • "Isn't being a good person a worthwhile pursuit, in and of itself?"
  • "Even if your beliefs about the afterlife weren't quite accurate, isn't the important thing they motivated you to live good lives?"
  • "Are you going to abandon a lifetime of good character, now that it matters most, just because you found out you were misled?"

Credit for posting the correct dialogue options: DiegoTan (Confrontation 2/3).

Step on the third and final pressure plate (Boulder 3/3). If you successfully dodged all three boulders, you should unlock:

After the third boulder, the area gets flooded. Run up the ramp, then follow the only path up the hill to a ladder you can climb up. Go forward to a second ladder, then right through a door. Cross the bridge, then make a right when you can, followed by a left when there's an opening (stay on the left of the area while walking to see it). Follow the path back to the Hermit Philosopher. Then, leave the way you came in, crouching under the door, and exit the temple.

The Greek Plaque

Talk to Duli.

  • "About the Greek plaque in your cell..."
    • "May I please have it?
    • "I need it for something really important."
    • "Alright, what's it going to take for you to give it to me?"
    • "There's no way Sentius will release you. But if we had a new magistrate..."
    • "So all I need to do is persuade everyone to vote for Galerius?"
  • "I'll be going now."

Election

It's time to call the election. Talk to Equitia.

"What's the status of the election?"

  • "Who's allowed to vote?"
    • "The women can't vote?
    • "Such as?"
  • "What's your role in the election?"
  • "Can we start the election now?"
    • "I just want to get it over and done with."
    • "Holding it early may prevent conflict between the voters."
  • "You're welcome."

This completes The Virtuous Man. After helping Galarius win the election 5-1, return to Duli in his cell. Watch the scene play out, then Duli automatically talks to you.

  • "Yes, that's me."
  • "You're welcome."
  • "What was it?"
  • "Alright, I'll help you."

Take the Key to the Upper Cistern.

You should unlock:

Quickly run into his cell and grab take the Greek plaque. This completes The Greek Plaque.

Updated Main Goal:

A Herculean Task

Return all four plaques to the obelisk

New Lead:

Heart of Gold

Unlock the door to the upper cistern with Duli's key

Because Duli can't help himself, he steals something, which breaks The Golden Rule. When he does, return to the portal since we still haven't done Endings 2 and 3, and I wanted his key. This concludes Time Loop 3. Next up are Endings 2 and 3. Still to come is Ending 4, the Epilogue, and the conclusion of the game.

Ending 2: Using the Golden Bow

Talk to Galerius. You want to make sure to tell him to help everyone. If you don't, you lose out on a missable achievement. There also can't be any more time loops or you miss out on another achievement.

Return to the Magistrate's villa and try to enter the lower cistern, but Domitrius stops you first.

  • "Yes, why?"
  • "What did you do?"
  • "That was a great story, but I'm still going down there."

You can now go through the doors. Descend the stairs, and gild the peeling statue. Make a left when you can and gild the vines leading up on the left when you reach the stairs. Gild the next vines and continue climbing. When you reach the top, turn around and gild the last of the vines. Jump and carefully climb the rest of the way. Entering the chamber resolves Water Under The Bridge. You should also unlock:

You can now talk to the Captive.

  • "...nobody sent me."
  • "What is going on here?"

(Missing Person 4/4). This is where I unlocked:

  • Sleuth

NOTE: I've read conflicting reports as to who you need to find for this achievement, all saying it's different characters. Here they are:

  1. Naevia
  2. Hermit Philosopher
  3. Khabash
  4. Sentilla

For me it unlocked once Sentilla said her name. It could be different for you. However, it has to be during the same playthrough.

  • "Who did this to you?"
  • "How has this not broken The Golden Rule?"

With ending 3 set up, save your game and talk to her again. This also resolves Vanishing Act. Now we're going for ending 2.

  • "I'm letting you go. Let's get out of here together."

Sentius shows up.

  • "Wait, what?!"
  • "You're going to die a painful death for this."
  • "'Actually, I was thinking about using this.' (Draw gun)" (BULLETS REQUIRED)
  • "I'm going to put a hole in your head."
  • "This is for Sentilla."

Press cn_RT. You should unlock:

  • "...I was hoping you'd know who I am..."
  • "'Weird. That definitely wasn't me.' (Lie)"
  • "When I first arrived here in the present day, I found your corpse hanging from a noose."
  • "I still have the suicide note you carved into this tablet. Here."
  • "It was written by a different version of you. I changed your past, and your fate."
  • "I helped Sentilla kill the man who opened a time portal and drew you back in time, preventing it from ever happening."
  • "Now you're getting it."
  • "Enough talk. How about we get out of this place?"

Ending 3: Using Duli's Key

Leave the upper cistern by either gilding the vines and carefully climbing down them, or by falling into the water. If you land on the ground, you die. However, it's entirely possible to fall in the water if you fall on the side with the vines. Leave the lower cistern, then break the Golden Rule any way you want (I gilded Domitrus for no reason, other than the fact that he was there), then follow Sentius back to the shrine and step through the portal.

Talk to Galerius.

  • "The Golden Rule is going to be broken soon. I need you to quietly get everyone except Sentius ready to run into the upper cistern when the ground starts to rumble."

Now, return to the Sysiphus statue (he's the one pushing the bolder) where you met Octavia and Ulpius late in Time Loop 1. Make a left at the statue to enter the caves, then unlock the doors and enter the upper cistern. This resolves Heart Of Gold.

Talk to Sentilla again.

  • "...nobody sent me."
  • "I know. We've had this conversation before."
  • "I've told Galerius to lead everyone here when The Golden Rule is broken, so they can escape too."

Since we still have yet to clear out a bunch of optional objectives, let's talk to Sentius.

  • "...we've already had this conversation."
  • "I couldn't stop it from being broken."
  • "Can we talk about who's going to break The Golden rule?"
    • "I've already figured out how to stop at least one person from breaking it. What happens now?"
    • "I think so."
  • "Can we talk about who's going to break The Golden rule?"
    • "I think I know who it is."
  • "It's Aurelia..."
      • "She's a charlatan: she's selling 'a way out', but it turned out to be hemlock."
    • "No, it didn't."
  • "Can we talk about who's going to break The Golden rule?"
    • "I think I know who it is."
  • "It's Desius..."
      • "He asked for help figuring out how to turn people into gold, to make money."
      • "Not anymore."
    • "On second thought, I don't think it's him."
  • "Can we talk about who's going to break The Golden rule?"
    • "I think I know who it is."
  • "It's Domitus..."
      • "He's been trying to intimidate people into voting for Malleolus."
    • "On second thought, I don't think it's him."
  • "Can we talk about who's going to break The Golden rule?"
    • "I think I know who it is."
  • It's Duli...
      • "He broke The Golden Rule as soon as I had him released from his cell."
    • "He had something I wanted."
  • "Can we talk about who's going to break The Golden rule?"
    • "I think I know who it is."
  • "It's Galerius..."
      • "He's an escaped slave, he's angry and resentful towards you, and he's killed before."
    • "On second thought, I don't think it's him."
  • "Can we talk about who's going to break The Golden rule?"
    • "I think I know who it is."
  • "It's Lucretia..."
    • "She threatened to scratch Desius' eyes out if she lost another patient because of him."
  • "Can we talk about who's going to break The Golden rule?"
    • "I think I know who it is."
  • "It's Sentia..."
    • "She seems awfully relaxed about Sentilla's disappearance."
  • "Can we talk about who's going to break The Golden rule?"

    • "At least one resident thinks his sexuality makes him a sinner."
  • "Can we talk about who's going to break The Golden rule?"
    • "I think I know who it is."
  • "It's Ulpius..."
    • "I believe he was seeing Sentilla, in secret, before she disappeared. I suspect he knows what happened to her."
  • "Can we talk about who's going to break The Golden rule?"
    • "I think I know who it is."
  • "It's Rufius..."
      • "He's becoming increasingly threatening to Vergil because of his sexuality."
    • "I'll get right on it."

*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Talk to him again.

  • "I know what you did to Sentilla."
  • "You're keeping her tied up in the cistern."
  • "Who?"
  • "You remember him?"
  • "You knew there was a way out, and even locked up your own daughter to keep it a secret. Why?
  • "Hand over the key to the exit."
  • "It's the right thing to do."
  • "If you don't hand over the key, you'll have an uprising on your hands."
  • "What's to stop me from taking it by force?"
  • "This isn't over."
  • "I'll find a way to break the cycle, and you with it.

That completes The Golden Rule.

Finally, return to where you met Octavia and Ulpius in Time Loop 1, and insert all four plaques into the obelisk to open the door.

Updated Main Goal:

A Herculean Task

Enter the Great Temple

Step inside and speak to the first Great Temple Door.

  • "Pluto, Father of Riches, grant me an audience."

Continue forward, and speak to the second Great Temple Door.

  • "Hades, Lord of Many, grant me an audience."

Speak to the third one.

  • "Osiris, Lord of Silence, grant me an audience."

Finally, speak to the fourth one.

  • "Nergal. The Fierce One, grant me an audience."

Run forward until you see the God of the Underworld, and save.

NOTE: If you already have the "Herculean" and "Psycho" achievements, skip past the text in the red box below.

We're not talking to him just yet. Instead, look to the right. You'll see a female statue (not gold this time) inide a glass case. Shoot it.

A Herculean Task

Rewind time and show Pluto you have Proserpina's crown

Run back to the portal. NOTE: There are two ziplines to the left of the entrance. You can take one after the other to quickly get back to the spiral staircase. Then retrace your steps back to the portal.

Pick what you want with Galerius because we're reloading anyway. Make a right just before Galerius and go to the top of the spiral staircase. Keep going until you find a ladder, and climb it. Cross the bridge the entire way until you reach more stairs. Climb those, then make a left. You may get stopped by Octavia, so get through the conversation, and enter the Great Temple. Speak to the Great Temple doors, answering in the same order you did before. Next, run up to the God of the Underworld. You need to answer correctly for a missable achievement. You should unlock:

Reload your manual save when you can. Talk to him, answering correctly (different answers this time) again.

NOTE: The first several are for if you want to know more of the story. However, answering poorly on a few of them might upset him. Especially if you decide to argue with him over who got away with sinning. Not only is it not required for the next achievement, but you lose every time anyway.

  • "What's your story?"
    • "You're a god?"
    • "Why do you look and sound like a man?"
    • "May I see your true form?"
    • "Who is the woman on your left?"
    • "Who is that on your right?"
    • "Let's talk about something else."
  • "What is this place?"
    • "What was the wager you made?"
    • "Who are your kin?"
    • "Who built the city?"
    • "How did you decide who comes here?"
    • "How did humans learn about the Underworld?"
    • "Let's talk about something else."
  • "Are you responsible for The Golden Rule?"
    • "Why turn people into gold?"
    • "So you're responsible for destroying all these lives?"
    • "Where did these golden bows come from?"
  • "What do you consider a sin?"
    • "That principle is not as easy to apply as it sounds."
  • "How do you know when people sin?"
      • "Is Proserpina connected to the statues in the same way?"
    • "No reason." (NOTE: You can continue arguing here if you want or move on. I will outline all the options here).
  • "I've seen some terrible things here that you didn't consider a sin. How could you let that happen?
  • "Suicide."
        • "That seems like an extremely literal interpretation of the rule."
        • "If our language is full of ambiguity, doesn't that make the rule inherently subjective and unreliable?"
      • "No, of course not. Never mind."
  • "Price-gouging for life-saving medicine."
        • "He wouldn't want someone else to demand an outrageous price for the medicine he needed if he was dying."
        • "You can't know what he would expect. You're just speculating.
        • "Doesn't that make it inherently subjective and unreliable?"
        • "And you think you know the minds of other people?"
      • "No, of course not. Never mind."
  • "A scam."
        • "She wouldn't want someone else to sell her hemlock if she thought she was buying a means of escape."
        • "You can't know what she would expect. You're just speculating.
        • "Doesn't that make it inherently subjective and unreliable?"
        • "And you think you know the minds of other people?"
      • "No, of course not. Never mind."
  • "Debt bondage."
        • "He wouldn't want to be trapped in a thirty-year labour contract because of a loan."
        • "The whole concept of debt bondage, like slavery, is unethical. It's illegal under international law where I'm from."
        • "It's customary to take out a loan to buy a house, and in some places, to pay for an education."
        • "It depends. Typically decades. Sometimes, their entire life."
        • "It's not the same thing."
      • "No, of course not. Never mind."
  • "Experiments on the golden statues."
        • "She wouldn't want to be experimented upon if she was gilded."
        • "That seems like an extremely literal interpretation of the rule."
        • "If our language is full of ambiguity, doesn't that make the rule inherently subjective and unreliable?"
      • "No, of course not. Never mind."
  • "Abduction."
        • "I disagree with that."
      • "No, of course not. Never mind."
      • "It's no wonder people say the gods are cruel. This just shows how unreliable and subjective your moral code is. You're no better at judging right from wrong than any human."
      • "No, but that's my point. Nobody's grasp of right and wrong is so perfect they can be trusted with all this power. You've become a tyrant."
    • "And if you did, you'd be proving my point."
    • "Let's talk about something else."
  • "That's all the questions I had."

NOTE: You must respond correctly here.

  • "I'm from the future."
  • "'I was hoping you could tell me.' (Lie)"
  • "Shouldn't you know all this, as the God of the Underworld?"
  • "I'd like you to end The Golden Rule."
  • "How can you expect us to live without sin, if you can't do it yourself?"
  • "You've given terrible punishments to hundreds of people, some for minor sins, and some who committed no sins at all."
  • "If our positions were reversed, you wouldn't want me to punish you for the sins of other people."
  • "No."
  • "What makes your kind superior to mine?"
  • "Why do wisdom and technology make you superior?"
  • "So you think you’re not obliged to treat us fairly because you’re more powerful than us?"
  • "What was it the Romans Stoics said? 'Treat your inferior as you would wish your superior to treat you.'"
  • "But didn’t you say Jupiter was your leader? There’s a hierarchy within your kin."
  • "So are you treating humans the way you would wish Jupiter to treat you?"
  • "I’m saying: If you can’t follow your own rule, how can you expect humans to?"
  • "You’re not a monster. You’re a human, and you made a mistake."
  • "Humans make mistakes. It’s in our nature."
  • "Perhaps he made a mistake too."
  • "Perhaps when you took on human form, you took on some human foibles as well."
  • "We just want to return to the world."
  • "Why?"
  • "I’m ready."
