2. Final Fantasy VIII General Hints and Tips

One thing I will advise is to do the Chocobo mini-game on the Pocketstation first. The reason for this is because, once you've gotten the related achievement, you will have racked up a ton of in-game points/items that you can then transfer to your save file on the main game, giving you a bunch of rare items in the main game. Secondly, the Steam version of Final Fantasy VIII has a 'magic booster'. Use it. Every little helps. I would also advise to attempt the 'Contrived Finish' achievement on a separate playthrough. It makes things easier, in my opinion. Final Fantasy VIII is also weird in that you don't have equipable armour, you don't purchase/upgrade weapons in the usual way, and you don't learn magic abilities the usual way. Instead, there is no armour, weapons can only be obtained by acquiring the items necessary for the shop keeper to make the weapon for you, and all magic has to be obtained through 'drawing', either from draw points or from enemies. Lastly, this game has a unique system called 'junctioning' whereby you can assign acquired magic to various stats to give those stats a boost, but only if you have learned the appropriate ability and have it equipped.
