NASCAR Heat 3 Gets Xtreme Dirt Tour

By Rebecca Smith,
Most people probably don't immediately think of the NASCAR series when it comes to annual sports titles, but NASCAR Heat 3 will be the latest title to represent the racing franchise when it is released in September. The sequel to NASCAR Heat 2 will bring a host of new features with it, including a new fantasy racing experience called the Xtreme Dirt Tour.

The XTreme Dirt Tour will allow players to race on eight dirt tracks for the first time. Meanwhile, a deeper career mode sees players starting out with small town success before they attempt to build a career through the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Players can become team owners and manage their own teams in the game too. Other new features include expanded online multiplayer functionality, such as online tournaments.

As with all sports titles, one of the more important parts of the announcement is finding out who's going to be on the game's cover. This time there's a whole team on the cover — 12-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champions Hendrick Motorsports — and all four of the team's drivers will be present: Chase Elliott, William Byron, Jimmie Johnson, and Alex Bowman.

NASCAR Heat 3 will be available in North America on September 7th for US$49.99. Players who pre-order the title at retail will get a $50 coupon to put towards the cost of a ticket to a "NASCAR-sanctioned event at any one of Speedway Motorsports, Inc.'s eight tracks, as well as Dover International Speedway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, through 2019", so those who are planning to attend a race can effectively get the game for free with the purchase of a ticket.
