Smash Costume QuestionsPermalink
If you look in the spirit list, there is an obsession with Mario. He's the mascot. The poster boy. Mr. Video Game. He gets special treatment. He gets an echo, a Waluigi palette, a Mario Maker costume, an Odyssey Wedding costume, and an American outfit.

Why does he get an American outfit? I can understand Little Mac, but not Mario.

Princess Peach has always had the white palette and I loved it when it was in Melee. But it doesn't get the wedding outfit treatment, which is understandable, because its standard can be fit accompany Dr. Mario. Also, Daisy gets a white palette.

Bowser only gets a Wedding spirit. Why doesn't he get a wedding costume too? Although, he has a black and gold palette, but he also has a black palette choice too.

It would've been cool to get Ganondorf costumes from other games. He's always been difficult to stand out among his palettes. Really odd choice to let him keep dressing as mostly black.

Does anyone see any special references to Sonic's costumes? His bracelets have mostly changed, but there's still a lot to be desired.

Honestly, the game that does justice to costumes is Heroes of the Storm. You had event costumes, cross-over costumes, and alternative universe costumes. I LOVE the alternate universe costumes the most. Angelic Diablo, here you go!

Too bad Smash doesn't go for DLC costumes. We got the mii costumes in Smash 4, but it's the worst kind of costumes you can do. Mii is already a deformed chibi.

I wouldn't mind a Heroes of the Storm micro transaction approach. Give everyone their red/blue/green variants and let them buy the rest through hard-earned or micro-transaction virtual currency. Seriously. Nintendo, you're missing out on an easy gold mine here. Throw away the requirement of 8 different palettes and embrace HotS costumes.

EDIT 1:
Just imagine a green tunic event. Four or five characters gets a green tunic. Next month, three characters get a smash t-shirt. Next installment, do it all over again and I would love it.

EDIT 2:
It's one thing to be unoriginal. Sure people have talked about the same thing I have before. It's next level unoriginal if someone has already dedicated a youtube video to it. I did not know the American Mario was a reference to Golf Mario. But that is so obscure!!

World of Light rant, nothing morePermalink
World of Light

The majority of World of Light seems like a massive arbitrary world. The first character you fight has little to do with the second match.

It adds on to the meaninglessness if you didn't know the spirits you're fighting. While you're fighting to clear obstacles, gain spirits, break Galeem's shield to beat Galeem... not exactly good goals.

I'm certain the game developers behind the single player content have to cringe behind their implementation on the spirits. It's worse than Pokemon. Why is THAT primary spirit two star? Why do I have to keep switching spirits in these day care centers like a chore? Who would actually want to release spirits?

It boggles my mind. You have 629 primary spirits that you can get to level 99!!

Game Freak must've played so much inspiration into this mess. Okay, Pokemon is different because you develop an attachment to your Pokemon and the world around you.

The level system, the gym, and the three dungeons should be dumped.

World of Light New Game Plus should be this--

-- Entire world map should be accessible.

-- Any spirit fight can be revisited. (I like the boss fights and would like to replay them at my leisure)

-- You should be able to switch roles. Like be able to play as the spirit against another spirit.

-- Each spirit battle should give you a new kind of battle record. How much damage you retain at the end of the battle. Perfect record is 0. Give the incentive by making the spirit... shinier or something.

-- Once a character has been unlocked, Kirby should be able to use that character's ability at the beginning of the battle.

-- Redo Dr. Wily. Seriously? You're going to pin eight MegaMan against me? You couldn't perform a tribute any OTHER way???

-- Redo the assist where there's that yellow guy shooting you and two other Smash characters attacking you.

-- Redo the Rayman battle and a lot more spirit battles!! Why are there spirits teaming up with assist trophies?

-- Make the transformations last through the entire battle. Don't allow spirits to give transformations, but offer them as disposable items before the battle starts.

Smash Ultimate Bad Single PlayerPermalink
World of Light is an empty RPG with a lot of unfair battles. While it does have its good points, I believe it'll leave people with a bad after taste.

Things it did right:
You unlocked characters as you go.
There was a build up to the bosses.
You could choose your character. If they made it how they made event matches, it would be absolutely nightmarish.

Things it did wrong:
You did nothing but fight battles for the majority of the time. You couldn't focus on anything else.
If you didn't know the character, it was a meaningless battle. There were a lot of meaningless battles.
1 v 4 battles.
Chrom, Richtor, and Dark Samus are possibly only there for the spirit that powers electric moves instead of fire/explosive moves.

---
Classic mode was done mostly right.
Mario should not have to fight all of the Bowser Juniors by himself. He needs some kind of advantage there. In fact, there really should've been one stage where it's Free for All: Mario, DK, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu

Sonic should not have to fight a giant metal Sonic. Just Metal Sonic.

It would've been great to have a Mario v Sonic at the end there.

Gannondorf should have two lives.
