What a lovely game is Tchia. I expected a chill adventure game that just looks awesome... but Tchia was so much more than that! What a beautiful game! what a heartwarming but emotional story! What a lovely gameplay! And what is there a lot to do! I'm blown away and totally in love with Tchia.

The story starts with you and your father living on a desolate island. A family friend comes over to visit. However.. somebody followed that friend and that is when things escalate very quickly (and this will not be the only time things escalate). Your father gets kidnapped and you'll start your journey to rescue him. On your journey you'll meet wonderful people, who will help you on your quest.

I love that this game is based on the culture of an island in the real world. It is a fantasy story but it also isn't in a lot of ways. Including the spoken language used in-game (it is subtitled to be able to understand it). You can feel how much love and passion went into this project ad that shrines through the whole game. The music added through Tchia is also wonderful. I'm so glad the songs where you play along have the opinion of auto-play, as I just wanted to vibe on the music and read the translation without the worry of hitting the buttons.

Next to playing through the story, there are a lot of things to do in this beautiful world. There are tons of collectibles, gladly all highlighted on the map. There are 3 kinds of mini-games (Racing, Making loops while diving, and a shooting range), there is a treasure hunt questline to solve 21 puzzles and there are a lot of nature and animals to discover. This all is tracked in the menu so you know what you're missing.

What really makes Tchia a gem of a game is that you have the ability to jump into the body of animals for a short while. This allows you to fly, dig, or run very fast. Things like that. You'll also have a ukulele to play songs to change the time of day, summon animals, and make your raft faster. Think Ocarina of Time style music melodies to unlock something for a short amount of time. This all allows for a relaxing gameplay loop where there are so many different things to do.

I encountered a few bugs and crashes. The developer is working on them. Gladly the game saves very regularly, so even with around 8 crashes through my total game time of 27 hours, I didn't lose any progress.

None of the achievements in Tchia are missable. There are 2 achievements you can miss out on when playing through the story, but gladly there is chapter selection, so you can go back to a specific part and still unlock it. Most of the achievements are just for completing all the different objectives and mini-games. For those mini-games, you have to unlock the gold trophy to let them count. I found the shooting challenges the most difficult while playing with a gamepad, but since I'm playing on PC I could switch to playing those with my mouse to make them so much easier.

I give Tchia 4,5 out of 5 stars.
