I don't like to admit it, but I have a sweet spot for idle games. Especially those without microtransactions! I'm behind my PC while playing games, but a lot of my work also is behind a PC and for the latter... idle games are ideal :D.

Rusty's Retirement is an awesome idle game. It has no microtransactions. And in the beginning, it is a bit of work to get a farm running, but you'll be able to automate more and more with the more money you unlock and the better crops you unlock. Those later crops take more time to grow, but they give you much more money. At that point, it becomes more and more an idle game.

Rusty's Retirement has farms on different land types. You'll unlock a new land type after buying all the land on the previous one. So you'll repeat the beginning a few times to unlock the new land types that come with their own new challenges and layouts. This also gives you the chance to go for different achievements on each farm. I did almost all of them on the first one, but I can see it makes much more sense to go for different strategies on a new farm and unlock them that way.

It has quite a few grindy achievements, especially the later ones about growing X amount of crops, Water X amount of crops and achievements like those. The moment I only had those 2 achievements left, I made my farm really small. I made sure I had enough currency to keep the automation system running for a while and forced the NPC to plant the low-level crops. Because letting them run around in a small area with plots and plant grain is much faster than the crops that take 15 minutes. If you don't mind letting the game run, you don't have to use this strategy and just keep the game running will also do the job.

    I give Rusty's Retirement 4 out of 5 stars.
