Woah this game blew me away. 15+ hours watching the artwork and I'm still in awe because of how wonderful it looks, and how much effort was put into the details. How the lights are done, and how the people on the ship live their lives. They don't stand still when they are in the background. For example, in the coffee shop, you see people talking, even when just passing by the window. Or when you pass by the classroom where a boy is sitting alone, he will interact with you through the window and show you a sign if you give it a few seconds to stand still. Shops that are indeed closed if their owner is somewhere else at that moment. So many small details but they make the world not just a normal game world but lively and a joy to explore. You will get to know the people and their lives and struggles.

Furthermore, there was not only so much detail in the artwork but also in the music and the voice acting. So many times it just felt right! And while that may seem normal, it is also such a wonderful thing that makes this game come to life.

The story was exciting, you get enough background in the beginning to understand enough of how the world you just got dropped into as a player works. You instantly have questions on how things are done and why. What I also enjoyed was that some chapters were quite open, with lots of tasks to do, and people to meet, which was followed by a more linear chapter, and the world would open up again in the next. How you go through different chapter structures felt just right and would make you appreciate the other style just as much.

The only thing I struggle with is the walking speed. You will walk a lot from one place to the other and while the walking speed allows you to see all the details at first, for me it became a bit boring and gave my mind room to wander of. However, I'm well aware that this is a "me problem" and the reason I normally play a bit more action kinda games is because I know my mind will wander off otherwise.

At this moment 1 (or maybe 2) achievements are broken. The one for filling up the sketchbook and the one about playing for 15 hours seems a bit off. The developers are aware of the sketchbook achievement and are working on a fix. I'm unsure if any of them will end up missable. There is a system in place that you can reload a subparagraph, but at this moment when you do that, you will lose sketchbook entries. I'm not sure if that is part of the bug. 3 achievements have actions continuing throughout the story, the sketchbook has many many actions, but the storyline with Buddy is a daily task and there is also the one where you listen to all the different dialog of the 2 people in the coffee shop. I'm unsure if you could still unlock those by going back to the section you missed and playing that one again.

Most of the achievements will be unlocked by just playing through the game or by going back to a specific section and unlocking it that way if you missed it in your first playthrough.

I give Harold Halibut 4.5 out of 5 stars.
